Default Any Photographers out there..... question for you

Good morning,
To give you a little background I am a photographer (wont tell you where...lol). I have never done nudes, but Mr. Love and I would like to do some shots down at my studio. We want to do these for our own benifit and also from an artistic point. Everything I do is digital and my printer is not photo quality. I send everything off to be developed elsewhere. My question is has anyone ever used an online printing studio that specializes in nudes? Someone that you have trusted and have had great luck with?

Thank you in advance for your help
Mrs. Love

unless you want your pics to end up in the web I sugest you invest in a photo printer or go old school and get a polaroid. I would not trust anobody with my pics.

Just buy a good photo printer - here is a good link:

How to Buy A Photo Printer - Reviews by PC Magazine

Prices are low, and ink prices seem to be coming down as well.

I have a HP PCS 1510 and print pics off the net and they turn out as close as prints from a lab with 35 mm. I have also printed some of my own that I took with a Nikon digital and they are so close to 35mm I challenge any to tell the difference. Use good photo paper and have fun. the Megapixals of the camera will likely determine the sharpness but with digitals close to 10 abnd 12 mega pix they can be blown up quite large with sharp results.

There are places that will develop nudes and x-rated photos, but you are always going to risk someone making copies for themselves and doing with them what they will. A simple web search will find any number of places that will develop them, and there are reviews on the 'net for a few of these places.

I don't have enough faith or trust in businesses or people to not abuse their position or <conspiracy theory> the gov't to not potentially seize the same for some reason or another. </conspiracy theory>

I hope you'd consider just getting a printer. The printer, ink and paper has come down so much that it almost doesn't make sense to risk your privacy to do otherwise. My one cent, anyway. YMMV, of course.

Thank you all for the advice. Looks like we will be investing in a printer. Really stinks that businesses can not be trusted not to share personal information on the net. Oh well such is life.

This poses another question that we have. In posting a picture on SLS how do other people feel about pictures being professional instead of snap shots? I have seen on here where people do not care for cluttered backgrounds, but have not seen anything on professional studio pics. What is the general feeling on this?

Oh gosh, we are seeing more people caring about what their pics look like more and more these days. Thats a good thing
I try and have learned allot about photography through swinging .

Personally I love the professional look. People who care about background make a difference. I love taking pics but like I say, I'm not that good.

On sls we keep our private pics down to what we really look like, if you should be trying to find us. I had my niece in Chicago do some private pics of Mrs.fun that are quite sensual. They are mine though, I wouldn't put them on sls .

I say if you can make your pics enhanced on sls.... go for it

Before meeting someone, have a pic available that someone could pic ya out of a crowd with. Good luck with your photo shoots and adventure .

I love the Epson Picture Mate Dash for my 4-by-6 photos.
With an old 5 mega pixel camera the photos come out great. The printer is portable and very reliable. I bring it to my kid’s parties, bachelor parties and anyplace the high end photographer’s work and no one ever sees a difference.
It cheep too. Each photo is less than 30 cents

Hugs and Hissessss,
Maria.

It is a sad world we live in. The pics would end up on myspace, youtube and a plethora of other sites.

If it were me, I'd get me a great photo printer and use some excellent quality paper and enjoy them in the comfort of my own home.

Photography is my hobby. At one time it was a small side business for me. Not studio work, but sports photography. I do have studio equipment. I just don't use it. I've never enjoyed it truly enough to learn as much as I should to be a good as I'd like. If I do portraits, they are environmental. None of that was needed to say...it isn't hard and not really expensive to get a photo quality printer. I print our digital pictures out at the house and I haven't gone completely digital. I doubt I ever will. I have a black and white darkroom and love the thrill of seeing what I get there in my artistic endeavors. Things I "need" to get are where digital is nice.

Don't run the risk of sending the shots to someone else to print. You can do it easily yourself.

Nothing is 100% safe when you have someone else developed your photos. I'm not a pro but I take a lot of photos of nude ladies. I have my own dark room when I use my regular cam but now with the development of digital equipment I don't use the dark room that much any more. I did get a good photo printer for less then $400, it's all I need for what I do. If you looking for something for personal use then try Fry's or Best Buy. They have good sales on good photo printers.

Something else to think of.. our local K-Mart had a self service machine that you could insert a CD or camera drive in and print out your own pics. You had the ability to choose the size also. Perhaps there are still some of those machines out there.

Good quality photo printers are easy to come by nowadays and fairly cheap. I can understand how as a professional photographer you probably feel that the consumer grade ones just don't compare to professional prints, but unless you are printing poster size prints they actually do. I've been using various models since the earliest HP photo printer came out and it's amazing how much they have improved. The one I have now is one of the all-in-one models from HP that uses the Vivera (?) ink cartridges (it actually uses 5 different color cartridges giving you much more realistic color) and it's amazing how much better the prints are on that than my old HP printer. In between those two I bought an Epson photo printer that is also really good...

Thanks for the advice. I think a new printer is in order! I wish I could do dark room and develop my own, but for the sake of keeping prices down with chemicals and also insurance I have decided not to go this route. Most of the pictures will be for our own use. The ones for the "artistic" point of view would be tastefully done so having them printed onling should not be a problem. If the online printers feel the need to post some fully clothed, but sexy pictures on the net then I should feel honored that they would use mine. . . . lol. Even if we never have them developed it will be fun to play.

Just wanted to ask...in your first post you state, "Everything I do is digital..." and now in your last post you are talking about "...chemicals..." Now I'm confused.
I have shot and developed, and printed, under the old chemical method B&W, as well as C-41, as well as Ektachrome, but never Kodachrome (which is toxic) in my own at home buy hand. Why would you think of going back to that if your digital?
Just wondering, Hope this didn't come across as critical.
