Pornography and Swinging

Over the last few weeks I have been pondering something that came up in another discussion here on Swingers Board. A negative reaction to pornography as it relates to swinging.

Personally, pornography is really a word that I don’t like to use in this case, because it covers such a wide range. My personal interest in is nude photography, not true porno really. But my wife enjoys looking at nude photography as much as I do. And I know others that do as well who are also swingers. Every swing club that we have been to had porno films going somewhere in the club. Erotic art adorned their walls. I have come across several SLS members who I have also found on an amateur picture posting site I am a member of. Granted, my experience is limited, but every swinger couple I know fairly well also enjoys nude art.

So I guess my question is, why was their an apparent negative reaction to the fact that the swinger and porno industries have interests in common, when to me it is apparent that swingers are big fans of pornographic material whether it be video or still photography? Was it just a reaction from a “purest” point of view because of the when and where that the two industries are coming together?

I think it is basically that yes. I've been to porn conventions and I've been to many swinger events. They are two very different groups of people. So yes while swingers may enjoy porn and can have a great time at a porn convention.... a porn convention is not a swinger convention. The fact that the event in question is primarily sponsored and hosted by the porn industry invites & attracts a different group of people than what a true swinger convention attracts.

I will be very interested to hear overall how the event turns out. As I posted in the other thread my issues with the event were many and the porn aspect was really the least of it. You've got non-swingers who have never hosted ANY swinger event suddenly deciding they want to put on the largest "swinger convention" ever... or at least claiming to do so. There will be a turnout simply because enough people will read the marketing material and believe it and sign up, but it won't be the turnout they claim to have. I have a feeling that a large percentage of those that do turn out will be those we've been discussing in other recent threads that have turned our clubs into zoos.

Just to add my two cents worth..

I think the difference is really quite clear, a Porn Convention is out to SELL their latest products, while a swinger convention might have a cruise or resort selling, the rest is more toward the fun aspect for all, not so much the capatolism of selling 10,00 units to each and every retail market.. Know what I mean?

As far as nude art vs porn.. its a fairly old arguement.. I mean playboy is what i would consider nude art.. in its purest form.. While Club, OUI, Cherry, And Hustler, with the close up glistening shots are PORN, christ some I wondered why old Larry didnt put a scratch and sniff in of the perfume, just to sell and extra half million

But what we are really discussing is nothing more than the personal tastes of Each and every person that encounters what ever the media is.. How it strikes them, MENTALLY is how its labeled.. I have done pictures as well as hand drawn.. and while some can be referred to as artistic others have been called pornographic..

remember, Beauty is in the EYE of the beholder..
