Heard lots of people talk about it, but it doesn't add up. On most sites you have to be a paid member to see pics of consequence, and you have to be given access to see anything interesting. There are zillions of amature pics - real people having sex on the net - high quality, graphic pics. What makes people think there are tons of paid-member "pic collectors" writing emails on swing sites trying to con people into opening their pics so they can "collect" them? -lol! The internet is a visual medium. Pics are the only truely important thing in your profile. A winsome, interesting narrative is great, but if you had to have only one, it's better to go with good pics and forego the narrative. People who contact you might not even read the narrative - pics are first and last. It's fun and easy to click a profile you happen to come across, and check it out - doesn't matter how far away they are. But if they are too far away (as the vast majority are) we won't likely write, no matter how cool the profile is. If we write one initial email out a hundred profiles we happen to click, it would be a lot. We get our share of initial emails, but since we joined SLS in late Nov 06, we have had 28,026 views. A good ratio of total clicks to initial emails might be something like 1 in 200?

Picture collectors do exist. We have run into them, and while they are rare they are really annoying. The last time was on LL. Cute couple (on paper/pictures) signs up for parties but never shows up, woman is never available, somehow got a cert. They write a very well written, funny email blah blah blah, seem nice. They practically beg to see our private pictures, we tell them they are the same as our non-blurred front pictures, no nudes. Well we open them and then after about 6 long emails from them we get nothing back, and our emails are ignored. Now perhaps they just didn't like our faces but then I find out this guy has done it to about everyone on LL in our area, including some VERY attractive couples so logic says all he wants to do is see the pictures, aka picture collector. I do agree with most of the rest. I think most of the clicks are just people checking out who is out there, even if there is no way they can meet up with them. Profile is important though, it doesn't have to be very long but we have rejected couples on badly written profiles. One was a nice looking couple who based on what their profile said would be very compatible, but I think almost every word longer than 'cat' was misspelled. Sort of a turn off. | |
