Dawn and I were informed last week that our play partner for the past 1 & 1/2+ years has decided to take a new job out of state, and will be leaving sometime before the end of June. While we're heartsick at this news, it wasn't entirely unexpected. David has been our sole play partner since September, 2006, which is about the longest of any of our previous partners. We've had a TON of fun together, and he and Dawn have enjoyed themselves alone just as much. We're planning on a special weekend for all of us before he leaves, the details of which we still have to work out. The trouble is, there's nothing really left to do that we haven't already done. All I know at this point is it will likely involve he and Dawn spending a last night together by themselves, followed by a last night blowout with all three of us. I expect Dawn and I will take the summer off to ourselves and possibly look for a new partner in the fall.

When we invited David into our relationship, he was a somewhat naive 22 year old who had a good bit to learn about pleasing a woman. But he was an eager student, and per Dawn, is now an "excellent lover." We wish David the best of luck in his new job and and hope he finds a girl who deserves a fine young man like him.

Thanks for sharing this. Seeing as you've enjoyed a fairly long-term, exclusive play partnership with your young man, I'm sure you'll have some feelings of loss in the weeks and months to come. No doubt, you'll also have some terrific memories as well. All the best to all three of you.

I'm sorry to hear about the loss... but I do with him the best of luck in his new career.

It's not so much the loss of a lover - but the missing of a good friend & companion. However, I'm sure he won't be gone forever... the internet makes the world a far smaller place than it used to be, so I'm sure he'll stay in touch.

I'm sure y'all will have little difficulty in finding others who would be more than willing to step up to fill his shoes ("what *would* be the appropriate term for this anyway?")
