I don't remember if this was brought up or not, but -- do people swing with their partners with [any kind of] music on? We love music, but have never played with anyone while music has been playing. We're kinda quiet that way, I guess. In fact, I'm not even sure why I thought of this. Just feeling weird today, I guess. Is there music playing at the M&G's you attend? (There never has been with any of the M&G's we've been to) What kinds of music do you like to swing by and is this common? We've never been to a club, but with all we've read, obviously there is because I read a lot about dancing. |

We aren't big on Lifestyle clubs.. and one of the many reasons is because of poor use of music. The Meet Greets we've been to have both had and not had music..it depended on the type of Meet it was. For example, some of them were dances..so of course they had music. About the only complaint we would have made was if the music was too loud for conversations to be held.. which sometimes it was. When enjoying each other or when playing with others at our home, there is always music on. For us alone, it's usually what is termed "Smooth Jazz" today. We consider it part of the groove we like to slip into for sex. With playmates, it will vary, as we do enjoy different genres ... but regardless of the genre, it won't be played at foundation-shaking volumes. More often than not, guests will specifically compliment our choices of music..often leaving with a easily burned mix CD. |

When playing at home, we have some music rolling, but it's very much in the background, and not the center of attention. Like you, we use mood music to *gasp* enhance the mood! I will either hook the iPod up to the sound system and run one of the playlists, or put the TV on one of the music channel genres that everyone likes. I'm not talking about MTV/VH1, etc, but rather the CD or Sirius channels up in the 600 range on Dish TV. What we play can vary greatly, depending on the company and mood, but generally it is something mellow. | |

The M&G we went to last night was playing some music at ear-shattering volume. I don't have a problem with dance music for the purpose of dancing... but, yikes, when you have a noticeable hearing loss before the song is over, I think it's probably a little too loud. Guess I should be happy that the bass speakers were torn... ...that being said, I like "new-age" music while it's actually time to get to action. Something like Enigma. The room party we went to last night couldn't find any music on the TV, so somebody ended up leaving it on NASCAR Racing (!). Didn't help with the mood... |

Hmmmm, well the swingers clubs down here usually play dance/hip hop, which is great for dancing, but I agree if at a smaller house party or meet n greet, some kind of mood music would be great, nothing cheesy though....i do remember "playing" to Dave Matthews though last week, the song that struck me most is "Crash" and i thought it REALLY enhanced the mood!

At home for playing the music should be background. I like using classical for this. It doesn't interfere with the play or distract from it. "OH, I love this song!!" right in the middle of something could be distracting, or "I hate this song".

Many years ago, when I was single, I made a tape which I labeled "Music to Fuck By." It was a mixture, no songs by the same artist were together. I used many genres, The Berlin Philharmonic, Herbie Mann, The Beatles, Sweet Smoke, Chicago, Kansas, America, George Strait, Roberta Flack, Judy Collins, Black Sabbath, Ravel's "Bolero," Marty Robbins, and many others. The entire tape ran about an hour and a half. I had a professional tape deck which allowed me to record at different decibel levels. The tape started with a low volume but became imperceptibly louder as it progressed. I recorded the music so that there was no pause between numbers. At one point, fairly early in the tape, between songs, Cheech and Chong came on with their brief commercial, "No stems, no seeds that you don't need, Acapulco Gold is bad-ass weed." After Ravel, the volume dropped suddenly and the music became serene and peaceful. Somewhere, over the years, I lost the tape and never again invested the time to re-do it. Pity. It was unique!
