And then she opened her mouth...

Recommended Posts

Have you ever encountered a situation where you thought a couple (or person) was hot and then they opened their mouth and you lost all interest?

Last week our bug girl showed up. This is only the second time she's been here and Pet & I both happened to be home because he was sick. When I told him she was coming I made a comment "if I remember right she's pretty cute". She showed up at the door and I remembered right and I could tell from the look on Pets face that he agreed. But, when she left he commented, "I changed my mind about her when she started talking".

In her case I think it was the redneck southern accent, which honestly didn't affect me as bad as it did him.

Then today I talked to a girl on the phone that I mentioned in my blog here. A girl that I thought was totally adorable from her pictures and profile... but after 5 minutes on the phone I was just waiting to get off the phone. In her case it was a matter of sounding immature and telling me things about them that would make really good Jerry Springer episodes.

I swear the only hot people that we have found and really enjoy once we get to know them are people from here... and why do you all live so damn far away?

I've thought the same thing many times! I mean I don't think I've ever met anybody IRL, but I know I'd like 'em if I did. ::P:

We prefer to meet a new couple for dinner and drinks. Over the course of a dinner conversation you can tell if you're physically attracted and most important, you'll be free to cover several topics during the conversation, which you can evaluate your mental attraction. If there's a win/win situation, it's time to move from social intercourse to a sexual intercourse. Check please!

It would be hard to count all of the guys that my wife felt this way about while we were swinging regularly. I can only guess it happened at least 50 times. Some hunk that she was physically attracted to from afar would start to schmooze on her and immediately fall flat on his (verbal) ass. What a turnoff for her. She said it was too bad they ever had to opened their mouths instead of just fucking her.

I am less picky; most guys are. One of the most beautiful and seductive women I ever had the good fortune to make love to, and with whom I had a most wonderful experience, was clearly not very well educated, sophisticated, intelligent or poised. Pre-sex conversation was strained, to say the least. That didn't make any difference because she was a polite, decent, pleasant human being who loved sex and gave back as much as she accepted.

On the other hand, the very best swinging partner I ever had was a French Canadian whose English was fractured, at best. She spoke with her body, and we are still lovers to this day, 10 years later. (By the way, her English is getting better by the day.)

We've had this happen too, but the worst case of it was in a vanilla setting. I used to work with this guy who was just GORGEOUS. There is no other way to describe him. He's walk in a room, and we'd all stop to take in his beauty.

Then he opened his mouth.

He had the personality of a turnip green. And we just rubbed each other the wrong way (dontcha just hate it when that happens? Rubbing the RIGHT way is so much more enjoyable, but I digress...)

Our dislike for each other was pretty evident. After a while, if he came into my office, I'd stop him before he opened his mouth and I'd say, "R, can't you just stand there and look good for a moment? Please don't ruin it and open your mouth" to which he probably told me to f-off or something (I don't really remember).

He was (is?) a pompus ass. What can you do? Too bad those good looks were wasted on him.

I just can't get past the idea of wasting an entire dinner on a couple or person. Meeting at a club is a much better option for us, if we meet there and don't click then at least we can move on and have others to talk to. The best I can see doing beyond that is meeting for drinks, it's much easier to end the meeting at any point doing drinks than if you meet for dinner... where you are stuck sitting through dinner no matter what.

We will only meet people at the club for the very reasons that Julie states.

We do not want to have to sit through a dinner with someone we may not want to spend time with. We also don't want to meet for drinks. We have found to many people are good at making plans on line then do not bother showing up. I think it has something to do with the fantasy becoming reality and they are not ready for that.

I am also finding over the years, the more time we spend talking to someone either on line or even in person at the club the less the chances are we are going to play with them.

If we meet and in a few minutes we head off to play it happens. If any of us keeps talking it seems to end up being nothing but talk for the night.

Respectfully, meeting at a club has proven a poor option for us. The average club has amplified music that is so loud that we can see the other peoples' lips moving but their words are downed completely by the noise coming from the dance floor.

Since we don't do the club thing (yet, anyway), meeting for drinks or coffee has worked for us ... sometimes it then progresses to dinner and dessert!! :). The one couple I mentioned earlier was interesting; she was much more open and chatting on IM and emails than in person, and he was a blind date. So in our case, she just WOULDN'T open her mouth ...

We do agree with you Julie, some people should just keep there mouth shut.We as well had some we thought about courting.then it happened she opened her mouth. She had one of those voices that was like chalk on a chalkboard, and then the laugh omg.It was one of those that would cause viagra to fail.

Also Julie what is wrong with the southern accent! The right girl and the right accent it can be very atractive. The accent form the carolinas is about the best.....AND AFTER ALL JULIE YALL DO LIVE IN ALABAMY LOL :D:lol:

Sounds so cold when you put it like that.

We try to do the home work up front which hasn't lead to a boring dinner. We like to have a night out, and we have to eat. Meeting one on one without the distraction of music and other couples coming up wouldn't be fair to the other couple.

But everyone has their preference, and variety is the spice of life. It works for us and we'll stick to it.

We have had the same thing happen. Had great conversation online and then when we met, the guy smiled and Bunny lost all sexual intrest. Thats why we like to see pictures of the guy smiling.

As for my side, I have always been the type who would prefer a gal with great personality and so so looks to a hottie who is turnip. So it is very easy to have a gal turn me off by opening her mouth.

Yes we have had one of these experiences. She's almost 40 and very quick to remind you how hard she works to maintain her nice body and the number of younger men she attracts with it. We still played with her a couple times (I did mention her nice body, right?) :D

Ya'll don't like a Southern accent? How disappointin' . . . :(

In defense of Julie's southern accent comment, there is a difference between southern and redneck.

Southern can be very sexy....redneck just sounds ignorant. It might be a fine distinction...but it is world's apart in effect. lol

Ditto!

Some folks are party people, and some people are the quite, personal over-dinner types. This board has an abundance of the former, we are counted among the latter, too. And we've never met a couple we didn't like, and enjoy dining with. Maybe it is just me, but with the noise of a DJ/loud music, the other folks at a club...my hearing is just not what it should be, never has been. Too many distractions, and too much input...perhaps it is the echo created in that empty space between the ears!

I agree with Julie and Lee, we like to meet at the club so that the evening isn't a total bust if we don't hit it off. We have only met couples for dinner or drinks a couple of times, and loud music, so we couldn't hear them talk, would have been a blessing.

SexCupid took the words right out my mouth. There is a HUGE difference between southern and redneck. I don't mind southern, I barely even notice southern because as you said I live in Alabama... but redneck is a whole different thing.

Then again, I am also a bit wierd in that unlike many women I am NOT instantly turned on by foreign accents. Probably largely due to a British guy I dated for a short time, and when I see women crawling all over a guy just because of his accent it just turns me off that much more.

My point exactly. The other side of that and what I've encountered more often is people who can carry a conversation ONLINE but when you meet them in person it's like pulling teeth to get them to talk. Clubs are not for everyone but even if we didn't do clubs I would probably not meet for MORE than just drinks or coffee initially.

"I think it was the redneck southern accent..."

You're reacting to an accident of birth instead of to the person.

Like my house mate for instance. He's is this huge, 6-5 biker, a former SEAL, born and raised on a Arkansas farm so he's got a real thick accent. He also has a IQ of 165.

I used to work with these old school NASA types with their good ol' country boy appearance, casual demeanor and a slow way of talkin'. You just never would of guessed they were actually the world class physicists and aerospace engineers that put men on the moon and built the hardware that let us see what the rest of the solar system looks like up close and personal.

I grew up here (in AL) in an area that is populated with a higher % of PHP (and actual rocket scientists) than most anywhere else in the country... so I'm used the anomolies that you mention. At the same time, there are those whose accents are far worse than the general population. Typically, higher education does knock out a large portion of that accent (and it's not just the way they speak as in accent but the vocabulary that goes with it).

There is a huge difference between a redneck with education and one without... we prefer the ones with.

I agree that nice little southern accent on a woman can be very sexy, but the redneck southern is just a turn-off.

Sez you. It isn't the prettiest sounding accent, but there's something a bit transgressive about someone of my stature being involved with a woman who sounds like she was raised on Green Mountain. It's so... taboo.

When we lived in Hawaii, before the internet took off, we placed an ad in a local swinger's magazine. One of the guys who responded to it was a very nice looking guy that she took to immediately. We met for coffee, and God bless him, he was as dumb as a post. He couldn't carry on a conversation that didn't revolve around surfing, which led to some short discussions, let me tell you.

We don't meet for dinner either, but we insist on meeting for drinks or coffee - for all the above mentioned reasons. We need to make sure we're all compatible in a no-pressure environment. We figure it this way - if we can't make it through a 1 hour meeting over drinks, we certainly can't make it through a whole evening together.

We were discussing this very thing last night, specifically one female we know.

My comment was "If we had played with Susie and her husband the first time we met them, it would have been fine. But, we didn't, and we got to know her for more than a couple of hours, and now I can't see myself being able to go there". Mrs two4you nodded her head and agreed.

She's a cute girl, but she will not shut the fuck up. Ever. She has to be in the middle of every conversation, even if there are multiple conversations going on, and if you've done it, she has too. You want to feel bad for her because it's obvious she didn't receive attention or positive reinforcement and appreciation in her youth. But dammit, she's dialed up so far past eleven you can't do it.

As to the other posts, I'm surprised that so many didn't know the difference between Southern drawls and Redneck. A natural Southern drawl is a fine thing, but (and I say this as a child of the south), the over the top, forced Southern drawl is a turnoff for me. Not as much of a turnoff as redneck, but not far behind.

Well my southern accent is pretty thick and whether it is "southern drawl" or "redneck" is probably subjective. It definitely isn't that southern belle Georgia Plantation that people automatically think of when they think southern either. (you know what they try to do in movies) Even True Blood don't quite get it right and that's suppose to be in my back yard!

True Blood has Brits trying to do a Southern accent for starters.. Rednecks are everywhere and it's less an accent and more a lack of being able to talk "good ".

YES! They may look fantastic physically but their mind doesn't match their body. I prefer not to talk about politics. I'm (since I'm posting this I can't speak for my wife) not attracted to loud, opinionated people. I respect you for being excited and willing to share yourselves sexually with other people so lets just enjoy ourselves.

oh my yes. Usually it is some couple I think looks great, but then they are incredibly stupid, or, come out with the "we're so hot, we're so great, you all must bow to us" sort of attitude.

Personality can make someone hot who is average or make a hot person ugly.

We were at a house party about a year ago, and there was a hot woman we had not met. After hearing "I WILL do this, I WILL NOT do that, YOU WILL do, YOU WILL NOT do..." over and over after each person was introduced to her...well...you know where this went.

Actually, we were polite and just distanced ourselves. There were plenty of other people who were fun to talk to.
