Reading this thread and some of the comments from people I have to wonder, would we enjoy swinging as much if it were out in the open? If everyone knew about our "dirty little secret" would it take some of the fun out of it?

For me it wouldnt make a difference. I do it because I enjoy it, not because of any taboo factor. The only thing that would change if the general pulic accepted swinging, is playmates would be easier to find.

It probably would take some out of it for us. Human nature I guess, we're wanting the best of both worlds. We want it to be illicit enough to give it that extra fun and excitement feeling one gets doing something "naughty", but not so illicit that our opportunity to do it in the manner we enjoy is totally taken away.

I think it might take away some of the fun. I kinda like being flirty, making a smart ass comment that only a swinger might pick up on.
But boy would it ease some of the stress. Being a parent with kids and an ex always looking for a way to tarnish me and take the kids, it would be so much better to tell him he can take his nose and stick it else where.
But I do love the "dirty little secret" part.

I enjoy the "taboo"...

But on the other hand, sometimes I wish I didn't have to go to work and "make up" a story about what we did over the weekend.

But if I really were to answer your question I'd have to go with "no, I would not enjoy it as much." It is the one "bad thing" I do

My other hobbies I just do badly...

I'll have to admit, I am not one of those people that would like the lifestyle to be accepted by the vanilla world more than it already is. Like Spoo and a few others have said, it is the one naughty thing I do, which ads to the fun for me. So, yes, I think it would take some of the fun out of it.

It is the one thing we have all to our own within our circle of friends. We like the way our friends wonder what the hell we are giggling about all the time.

There are definately two sides to that coin on the one hand we do like the naughtiness of it which keeps it exciting. But on the other, and this is the only aspect we dont like is the lying. Where are you going tonight what are you doing this weekend. If our kids were older it wouldnt be so much of an issue but..... This is not just from the sitters either, it is friends, family, and coworkers.

WE think the way things are now has worked out great. Its not so much that we have to lie to our kids being that they are grown up now. We just say we wont be home for the weekend so can you stop by and check on things. They do know of our interests in the lifestyle, but its not a big deal. We all have a respected privacy in our own homes. WE all would give a call first before stopping by after 9:00 PM.

We don't feel that in our lifetime Swinging will ever be accepted in the world of relationships. So we will always have our naughty side of life

For us, yes. The lifestyle is about fun and friends for us and it being common knowledge to "vanillas" would not dull the edge for us.

Some drama may ensue after the initial "outing" but I don't think this is what you're referring to in this particular thread.
