Default Women and their makeup

Recently, I saw two women on TV who wore no makeup (one was doing a show on how to apply makeup, the other was showing a picture she took of her at home). I thought this was very brave of them. But what captured me was how beautiful they looked without makeup. And what stunned me was that they each looked 10 years younger!

The biggest difference was in their eye makeup. That's where most women apply a lot of it if they do add more.

So here are my questions:

When you go out to meet swingers, or attend a club, do you wear more makeup than usual? If so, why?

Do men like to see their wife, or other women, wear more makeup when at swing meets?

All comments welcome.

Good topic.
I have to have some make up when I go in public. I don't know, my Mama just raised me that way lol. Now, I stopped using foundation all together. We would take pics for sls, and the foundation made me, in my opinion, look like a clown and really white. AND the pics without foundation really showed me......freckles and ALL! Hey, they are me lol. I do wear eye make up to enhance my dark eyes, and liner to make them look larger than they are lol. And I have really full lips, and do wear lipstick. Thats about it though. It is tricky, because I have to be really diligent in taking care of my skin. Thats what people see, so it has to be healthy.

I wear more or less makeup depending on the setting, rather than whether I'm meeting swingers or not. If we're meeting a couple for a lunch date, I wear daytime makeup. If we're going to a club and I'm dressed for the club, I wear evening makeup. For me, evening makeup is slightly more dramatic eye makeup with an extra coat of mascara, and probably a deeper shade of lipstick. It just looks right with what I'm wearing, where we're going, and the late hour. But, I never make myself up like a clown (too heavy, too much color) - women can definitely wear too much. Good makeup techniques can make a woman look younger, or at least no older than she is.

personally i rarely wear makeup, i hate how it feels, my eyes run etc, so here i am, i will put it on for special occassions and if i am going out for the evening, but other wise what you see is what you get.

Well I would have to say alot of this depends on the woman. Some women are just natural beauties and look great no matter what. Other woman are beautiful but need that little something extra to bring it out.

For me, I'm one of those fortunate women who can pull off just about anything in the makeup department. I can go natural and look fine, or I can go full blow dramatic, what I like to refer to as the "HEY look at me, I look like a hoe!". Although my preference is full makeup that looks like I did nothing, very natural but completely put together.

Whether I choose to wear a very natural look or full dramatic depends on the event, what I'm wearing etc.

I quized Mr. Menage on this and his response was yes and yes for one reason. It shows that they care about presenting themselves in the best light possible and when going to a swing event they are really interested in putting their best foot forward and not just going through the motion of going and not really caring.

I would have to agree with him. I think this applies for men and women both. When you are really serious about doing the lifestyle you want people to see you at our best, whatever that might be. So you go about putting on your makeup or doing your hair extra nice, or putting on perfume, etc. all send out signals to others that we care enough to give the very best - ourselves!

I agree. I wear the exact same make up in the day as at night. I never wear red lipstick, because with my full lips I end up looking more like Steven Tyler from Aerosmith than good lol. Well, I do my eyes a little darker. But pretty much the same as in the day.

I think whatever makes a woman feel gorgeous is okay with me.

But yes, when we are going to the club or to play I do things up nice. Of course, being a girly girl already lol, but I do go the extra mile. I expect that from him, not to show up looking raggedy. Its not being fake, to me its about being considerate. Its hard to fulfill a fantasy when he looks like he just rolled out of the bed, threw some clothes on and said "lets go" lol.

I don't wear makeup everyday at all, I haven't since high school. When I go out, I wear eyeliner, mascara and lipstick. Sometimes I wear blush, but that's rare because I have rosy cheeks, and don't need it unless its in the dead of winter. If I started to wear anything else, I think I would look lile a clown, I truly don't know how to put on any other makeup products.

I think that a woman should wear makeup that enhances her natural beauty, to me that is the most beatuiful of all. Not harsh makeup that says look at me!

Great topic.

When I was in high school, I could get away with the porcelain pale skin, smoky-eye, red lipstick look. It looked pretty good if I say so myself. But now, as I'm getting older, I find I'm focusing more and more on the health of my skin, smoothing out wrinkles, and keeping it hydrated and supple. I wear more expensive foundation now than I used to but my look has gotten decidedly more natural. The rich colours and dramatic looks make me look old and tired now, which is probably because I have very angular bone structure (square-ish face, prominent cheekbones, strong jawline, etc.).

If I can get away with not wearing makeup, I will. Makes my face break out. But I always wear it to work or an evening out. Anytime I can give my skin a break, though, I do. Makeup only makes me look better in the short term; long term it's more of a pollutant.

I've got bright red hair and very pale skin so a little make-up goes a looooooong way with me.

As far as seeing very made-up women, it doesn't put me off.

I wear makeup no matter where I am. But it changes day to night. If makeup is done properly, it should enhance your good features and downplay bad ones. Proper skin care, a good foundation can even out skin tones. I see women that wear the wrong color foundation and don't blend in the jaw line, so they have this distinct line around their jaw and chin, and it looks terrible. The other thing is learning where blush should be applied and how much. Blush goes a long way and put on wrong can give you that fat rosy cheek look.
So anyway, I would feel nakid without my makeup.

Blessings

Do you KNOW what I would give for those gorgeous cheek bones you have? Holy smokes! I am convinced that I have no cheek bones lol. Cheek bones that are prominent are so beautiful girl! And I agree on keeping your skin looking healthy. My kids laugh at my avocado masks lol.

I don't wear a lot of makeup on a daily basis so when we go out, I play up my eyes...my best feature according to Dino. I do the whole cat/smokey eye thing and just a sheer gloss on my lips. Rule of thumb is if it's heavy on the eyes, go easy on the lips and vice versa.

The amount o fmakeup on a woman doesn't bother either of us...as long as it's applied correctly, ie no lipliner outside the natural lipline and other things like that.

I started using wrinkle cream in my early twenties and it was the best thing I could have ever done. You have to start young to keep looking young.

I quit wearing make up almost 10 years ago when I quit the formal business world. I still work, but now it's a laid-back company - goes with the neighborhood - and my daily wear is a tee-shirt, shorts & sandals. Because I spend about half of my time outside (the sun down here is year-round) I use sunscreen on my face every day. That's it. Nothing else.

When we started playing again a few years ago I put eye makeup on for the first time in years. Roger liked it, but he says he likes the unmadeup face too. So now I do eye makeup every time we go out to play. Simply eye shadow, eye liner, and mascra. That's it. It's easy and it works for me.

You know, this poses an interesting question. I'm going to start a new post so I don't hijack this one. It is interesting to see how many women don't wear make-up.

I used to wear makeup, but quit in college. At first, I would still wear it for going out at night or special ocassions, but by senior year, I just quit all together.

I like wearing eye makeup, but I am always so tired that I rub my eyes a lot during the day...so that's not the best idea for me. I also don't have a lot of time to spend on makeup in the morning, so the natural look works for me.
