Our Story: Before and After

The following are posts we recently put up on RC. Since this is probably a better place to get feedback, I thought we'd share it here too.

BEFORE WE WENT:
Well, we’re going to do it!! After months of talking about it, fantasizing about it and reading about it, my SO and I have decided to take a real time step towards finding out what the Lifestyle is all about. We think the concept matches our collective and individual personalities and we can’t wait to experience first-hand what so many people claim is so much fun! And no, this isn’t my idea and I’ve finally talked her into it. We both feel the time is right to give it a go. Sooooo...the way we plan to "Go Live" is to make a trip this Saturday night to a private swingers club we recently joined. We’ll go out for a nice dinner first and then head for the club. Afterwards, we have a room reserved nearby so we don’t have to drive after having a couple drinks.

Of course, all kinds of things are going through our heads as the evening draws closer: the anxiety of what it will be like; the awkwardness of meeting new people; what to wear (dress sexy, kinda sexy, conservative, etc.); how to approach someone we'd like to meet; etc. The bottom line is that we are VERY excited to be doing this and we're trying not to over-think it. We're just going to be ourselves and act like we would in any social setting and hopefully the rest will come naturally (or not). And even if the night doesn't live up to our expectations, we'll remain open-minded and try it again. Our motto? “We’ll try anything twice!”

We’ve agreed to rules about what we will and won’t do and we have a signal that we’ll use if one or the other is uncomfortable with a certain situation. But other than that, we’re just going to play it by ear.

So, why am I posting? I guess it’s just so we can hear some words of encouragement, bits of wisdom or any related comments people have. I mean, let’s face it. It isn’t like we can ask our friends and co-workers about what they think about our weekend plans. So, you guys are it! Tell us what you think!!

AFTER WE WENT:
First, let me say that most of our anxiety quickly disappeared once we were inside the club and met the owner. But before that moment, I for one had butterflies in my stomach in the hours prior to our going. Squirt is sitting beside me now and laughed when I said I felt that way. She obviously wasn’t as nervous as I!

The entire afternoon before we went, we continued to shop for the perfect “club attire.” As we now know, our quest for the perfect outfit was not necessary. In fact, we now know that we (or more specifically, Squirt) can pretty much wear whatever we feel like. We spent WAAAY too much time worrying about this part of the night.

But, man oh man, I for one was extremely nervous as we walked the last few steps and finally made our debut in the club. After some membership formalities, we were greeted by the owner and he made us feel very comfortable...I half expected to see a hairy-chested, gold-chain wearing disco type owner. I could not have been more wrong. He (and everyone else in the club) looked just like average everyday Joes. We ordered a couple drinks and made our way to a table. Squirt is now laughing that we found a place in the back and disappeared, but in reality, our remote table was one of the few that were left (we didn’t actually arrive until 10:30). One of the things that struck me was how everyone appeared to be watching TV as the various couples watched the large screen TV…no one was dancing and it seemed very quiet and subdued. But, as we both agreed, we simply sat back, watched and observed as we got comfortable.

Within a half hour, people started dancing and we soon joined in. It was quite exciting as we did the “bump and grind,” knowing that everyone was watching us. The more that excited feeling sunk in, the more I felt like it was “OK” to do it. But, in general, I have to say that the general atmosphere in the club was very subdued and not much different than any nightclub we’ve been to. No one came up to talk to us, but then again, we didn’t approach anyone else either. We stayed until last call and watched as only two, foursomes left together. So, was it a wild sex filled evening? No. But it was certainly a good starting point for us to get our feet wet. In a way, we’re glad that it wasn’t a wild scene. This way, we’re hungry for more excitement and are looking forward to going again. Maybe not to this club, but to one where there might be a lot more action. Part of this subdued atmosphere was explained to us by the owner a while later when he talked about how why he doesn’t open every night of the week. Apparently, the crowd’s energy is key to making the night fun for all, so he only opens one night a week.

Summary impression? The club was classy, but subdued. Everyone was friendly and helpful. We want to find another one to go to so we can experience some real action. If nothing else, the last 48 hours has yielded some really good sex for the two of us! Our heads were filled with thoughts and images of the night, which made for great fantasies as we did it. And it also created some great fantasies as we built up to the evening. We can’t wait to try it again and again.
In other words, MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!! We’ve “Gone Live!”

I'm not as far along as you guys are ... I nope my next wife is more adventerous.
I love the hiking and getting up into the Whites ... pretty.
Vacation in a week .. off to GA to hike in the AT for several day ..

Hi Hunka & Squirt,

Welcome to the board and welcome to the lifestyle. InNY could learn somethng from you...maybe you should PM him.

I'm glad it went that way for you two. You could've picked the wrong club and been hammered to death. This way you got to see what it was all about and not lose any blood. Next time maybe you can make a foray into the masses.

We have been to many off-premise dances, but not to a swing club yet. That is coming up in May, we hope, unless plans change. To tell you the truth, I was expecting a story that had a bit more bite to it. Nobody did anything and only 4 couples left with each other??? That is a calm night!

As long as you were comfortable with what happened is really all that matters. Sounds like you'll be back.
