We think the Internet is a great way to meet people. I don’t think we have a higher return rate, I just think we don’t anticipate much. That way when we get the response we are looking for, it’s a bonus and not expected.

FUSE gave some great advice about your profile and how to email people.

Some other things to think about:

Might there be better sites than the one(s) you are using? There is a big difference in sites as a whole as well as geographically.
Are you “certified” or whatever other process the site has to help assure people that you are a genuine couple? If someone has been on for months and still isn’t certified, it brings up a red flag for us.
Are you a free member or paid? Although we have met some really cool non-paid members, most of the people we have concluded to be disingenuous were free members. We wouldn’t rule a free member out by any means but experience does shape perception.

Before you give up maybe try the following:
1. Find EVERY profile that you like and send them a personalized email complimenting them on whatever you liked about their profile, AND asking them if they would like to get together for drinks, dinner, lunch, whatever you want to do. Being up front is the key- “This is what we like about you…and this is what we have in mind…”- not said exactly like that but you get the idea.
2. If they respond favorably. Ask them to have their female half give you a call before getting into a long back-and-forth email dialogue. If you want to weed through the fakers, this does it quickly.

That process has worked very well for us but it could be that we have a bunch more local couples to choose from than you do???
