Not so flattering pictures...

It is not possible, no matter how hard you try, to use the word photographer and Trace in the same sentence and the sentence be flattering...I'm simply horrible with a camera. So some of the "bad" pictures are really my lack of ability where cameras and art come together.

As an average man I try to use those pics which best represent the person you'd meet...I'd hate to have some poor woman meet me in person and think that I'd used a stunt "groom" for my pics so I err on the side of safety.

Where Mrs. Ekies is concerned we don't have a problem. We take 100 pics and get one or two that she likes and 100 that I like. Some are candid and capture who she is and some are posed and are a great representation of the woman you'd meet.

While we never, and I mean never, highlight our flaws we do try to provide an accurate representation of our ourselves so that there are no surprises (or very few minor ones). It's hard though...trying to put your best foot forward and not mis-representing yourself.

I wonder if the pics I choose may make a woman think to herself, "He only looks this good in his pics so in real life he must be a troll"? This could be but I will continue on the safe side to prevent any "misunderstandings".

We do try, however, to keep un-flattering objects out of the pictures. For instance: Me , the tub of "Anal Lube" with the convenient pump dispenser, shampoo and conditioner in the shower, dogs, cats and other pets, the drunk guy urinating in the trash can, bad biker tits and many other things.

So far as others go, I can't think of a situation where the pics were so grossly out of step with who they really are that we were shocked. It's probably luck that we haven't had this happen.

I like this approach. I do wonder, still, if people will pass up a good couple because we are trained to view on-line ads like a catalog. It is funny though how a picture can either hide the best parts of a person or blind us to how vapid a person really is.

Hmm, we went through the same thing. 100 pictures. I (Mrs NC) picked maybe 6 that I liked. Insisted the rest should be deleted, but Mr. NC wouldn't hear of it! We saved them on our computer under a folder called "TAXES". Now our computer is password protected, etc., but we figured this was safe just in case we do forget to turn it off, our kids would never open a folder with that name!

When MR NC has a day off during the week, he always lets me know that he is enjoying himself with our TAXES. Personally I won't open the folder, because I HATE so many of the pictures that I feel are just not flattering. I haven't deleted them, because I just know I will catch absolute hell if I do.

So you men are right - apparently we women focus on every possible flaw, but when you see the pictures of your loved one, you see nothing but beauty. Kudos!

Yes, PB likes pics that I think look terrible. We keep ours on a separate memory card, not saved anywhere on the computer, even if I did have my own laptop again and wasn't sharing my son's desktop right now (poor thing, getting kicked off by mom). Unfortunately his computer doesn't have a memory card port, so for now our pictures are incommunicado. Hmmm... must REALLY get our own computer again.

I think this is a good reason to avoid putting a lot of naked pics in your profile. Personally, I would much rather see full body, full clothed pics on a profile than anything else. It shows you a more accurate view of what you will see when you meet them in person. It's easier to get past "the naked truth" when it's not the first thing shoved in your face. Then again, we've had a horror story of a woman who hid her flaws so well in her clothes that it wasn't funny (she may as well have been "photoshopping" her body with her clothes).

I do wonder at what people are thinking sometimes with the photos they use on their profiles.

Yep, that's us, too. It doesn't help that I hate, loathe, detest, and abhor having my picture taken to begin with. They almost never come out the way I saw them in my head.

Kinda' scary how many people don't make this effort, though.

Either way, Mr. Sweet and I have found that most folks we meet look either better in person than their pics, or their personality shines through and we don't notice or care. We like to think that's the case with us, too.

But ya' gotta' start somewhere, so it's tough to totally discount pics when perusing profiles.
