Feature On Profile Site: Would you want to be able to see who looked at your profile?

This came up in discussion, between me and the mrs, primarily someone else mentioned it to us:

Would you want to be able to see other user names that viewed your profile, along with how many times they viewed your profile?

I think it would be a neat feature. I know that on Swapper and on SwingerNation they both had features where you could see who's friends lists you are listed on. Although it is strange because I know that we have sent emails to folks that we hadn't seen before that had us listed on their friends lists, yet they read the emails and never responded....

I like it, currently the only site we have that feature on that we use is theswingsite.com, we are free members there. Checking out folks who have viewed us there is probably our most used feature of that site.

Absolutely! I think if you knew that someone was interested in you, you would be more likely to contact them. We have had about a thousand views in the last week and a half....I surely would like to know who is interested!

The question is, does the fact that someone has looked at your profile mean they are interested in you? I don't think I'd want people to see that I'd looked at their profile then be like "hey you've looked at our profile 4 times ...." and my response would be "well yea cuz it keeps coming up in random matches and I forgot I'd already looked and realized I wasn't interested...." So I wouldn't want people to see that I'd viewed their profile or how many times.

Would I want to be able to see who's looked at my profile and how many times? Not really either. If they were really interested they would have made contact.

Think of all the profiles you've looked at, then think about how many you contacted. Probably very very few because once you viewed their profile you realized you weren't interested. So "who's looking at you" doesn't mean much IMO. It may be fun to know, but not worth much in the scheme of things.

I don't care who is looking, and don't want people knowing I'm looking at their profile because they would probably think we're interested when chances are high that we're not.

When we're interested we write to people.

I went with three also. Not that knowing a few lookers wouldn't be good. I just don't want to think about Chester who keeps pervin 1000 times.(and never writes) Its not important for some reason. Besides we are really liking the party invites on the new Swinger Zone. We have some great invites to several parties before and including New years eve.Within our range... Were leaning more toward why date, when we can party down from the looks of these people.

We both like to window shop so we turn those features off. Just because we looked at someone doesn't necessarily mean we are interested in them. If we are interested in someone we contact them.

We use this feature in our local (Germany) site and we like to see who is checking us out. It is almost like seeing if our add is working or not. A&C

I think its a good feature. It can be an icebreaker. On another site we like the fact we can send kisses which it kinda a little opener. But for sure like the view feature.

I'd like to have that feature. Yes, I know that just looking at someone's profile doesn't indicate interest, but it does give you an idea as to the type of person or couple looking at your profile. Are you getting the interest of a lot of single guys? Bi couples? Straight couples? What ages? Things like that. If Swing Lifestyle had that feature, I'd use it.

Couldn't agree more! We voted Number 3. I'm not trying to rain on anyone's parade regarding this.. it just piques my curiosity. In my opinion, the effectivness of said feature is greatly reduced by the fact that it's open to way too many interpretations. In short, the only way it works is if other members interpret it the same way you do (For those of you who read the boards over on SZC, look at the flap over their 'Who's Friend's List Are You On' feature!) We've been on sites that had this feature, and we found out that a lot of times folks pretty much just look at profiles to look at profiles..it really doesn't mean anything.

I've kicked this around with those who have requested this feature on sites (there is a movement over on SZC now to add it) - and I always ask the same questions:

Okay..so I looked at your profile - now what? Suppose I wasn't interested in what I saw? Suppose I was, but there was something in your profile that indicated you wouldn't be interested in us? Suppose everything looked good on both ends, but there was something going on in our lives that had us unable to pursue it further at that time?

How does it help to know how many and what kind of people are looking at your profile? On Swing Lifestyle and SZC, they provide you with the total number of people who have viewed your profile. Want to make that count spike..? Change your default pic or post a new pic. Or, if you have not posted to their forums ever or in a while - post, and your count will go up. How is that useful data? So there are a lot of single guys looking at your profile (suprise!)..or couples..or bi couples...other than proving that people like to look at new pics, what about that is actionable?

And not to take things off course..but we found the whole 'kisses' thing on sites that had it rather annoying - it seems that quite a few folks think it's just a way of saying "Wow - Hot pics!" and have no interest or intention beyond that.

It won't ruin my day if any site has these features or adds them..as long as they also provide the means to turn them off.

Are you talking about a profile view on this site? We voted that we would not care one way or another, but because this is not a hook up site, how many people would use this feature?I like myyearbook. It's somewhat like myspace, but with many entertaining features.They have alot of neat features that if used on a singer site, would be alot of fun. You could flirt, send stickers, e-mail, and send autographs without being suspect of wanting more from the person you are contacting.

Its like you are reading my mind.

For a time we were the #4 looked at profile on LL and we didn't have any naked pictures. Why? We were a new couple with new pictures.

And yea the kisses thing annoys us too. Either email us a hello or not, we have never had a 'kiss' turn into anything beyond that.
