Feature On Profile Site: Would you want to be able to see who looked at your profile?

No, this has nothing to do with this site, but rather a feature that is found on some personal ads based sites. A feature that allows you to see who has looked at your profile on that site (and how many times they have looked, etc).

We like to know who has be looking at our profile. Even if it just that we are the new couple. You never know when a connection can be made.

O.K then. We have seen these profile views on other sites that we visit. Some go as far as showing you an image of the last person/people that viewed your profile and the time that they did it. Plus they do make good ice breakers.

I don't really care to know who's looking at my profile. I figure if they're actually interested in us, they'll send an email. A few reasons we might view someone's profile multiple times:

1) They're a friend.
2) We get an email from someone and check out their profile, but aren't together.
3) We see someone signed up for a party we're going to and we may have already met them/seen their profile.
4) We're not sure if we're both interested in someone
5) We're interested in someone, but aren't able to meet, so we hold off on contacting them.
6) We don't always look at the site together, so we may each stumble across the same profile
7) We find a profile that we think is well written/entertaining, and enjoy reading it even though they aren't within a reasonable meeting distance for us.

I just don't see how that feature would be very useful to us. To each their own, though. As long as that feature could be turned off, I wouldn't care.

As much as I'd be curious to see who viewed our profile, I don't think that overall this is helpful information. Too much potential for false speculation.

On AFF, the default setting is that people can tell when you've looked at their profile. You can turn that off though, and I've got it turned off. Sometimes I'm just browsing, looking around, and I don't really want the people I've browsed to have that indicator.

I sometimes check who is looking at ours, but first of all I don't really care because I figure it doesn't mean they are interested... and second of all, sometimes I don't like who is looking at it. Most of the time I don't even look. I also figure other people may have the notification turned off, since I do.

I feel a little better about knowing who has "Hotlisted" us on AFF, because that's a more concrete measure that they are interested or at least potentially interested. I've always wondered whose Friends lists we're on on Swing Lifestyle, because you don't get a notification. I enjoy knowing we've been hotlisted much more that I enjoy getting a "flirt".

ooh, hotlisted seems like a much better feature. I'd be interested to see if we were hotlisted and I wouldn't mind others seeing we'd hotlisted them.

This feature exists with one particular Web site associated with a local members-only club. My experience tells me that the "who" and "how often" a particular subscriber/member pervs your on-line profile has very little relationship to which members are interested in meeting you.

JoAnn and I maintain a hotlist of sorts using Swing Lifestyle. We open one particular folder of private pictures to people whose attention we hope some day to attract. We have additionally named the folder "If you can see this, you're on our hotlist", the folder's name being visible to all paid members. It has worked, twice. On one occasions, a couple noticed that they could see the private photos. They felt flattered and sent us a note. On another occasion, somebody sent a note, "Can I see, please".

Now I don't want any of you to feel hurt if we have not yet opened our private pictures for you at Swing Lifestyle. If you want to see, just send a note.

I don't really want to know who's looking at us. As another user said, it may mean nothing in the grand scheme of things. Likewise, I don't want people knowing if I'm looking at them. If I'm tracked that way I'll probably stop looking altogether. I don't like being tracked.

Aff has it and we do look at it and our is turned on. It means we liked a pic and wanted more information.... If we liked what we read we would email. Now as a standard member at aff we do flirt sometimes to see if someone might like what they see in us but with out an email it is just that a look..

on Swing Lifestyle they don't have it.. does not bother us at all..


never really looked at it as being tracked...perhaps it is, who knows. and it always depends on who is doing the tracking.... as to if i like it or not.......
