Angry Our picture was rejected by AFF

I submitted a copy of our photo together in our Halloween costumes to AFF for one of our public photos. It's the same one here on our profile, in the Scottish Highlander costumes, but without our faces showing.

AFF rejected the photo, and I couldn't imagine why. I wrote them back asking why. They replied that "the image contains a weapon". LOL! Rejected, just for a prop in the picture - a costume prop.

This is what I wrote back:

"The sword was just a Halloween costume prop. I find this rule very odd. Personally, I'd much rather see a costume prop in a nice-looking photo of a couple, than to have to look at endless close-ups of genitalia and sphincters that are used in so many people's public pictures. But that's just me, I guess.

Regards,

Tybeeswing2"

Pirates were a very popular costume this year - I wonder how many cute pirate couple's pictures got rejected recently because somebody was brandishing a sword they got from a costume shop? If a sexy cop is holding a billy club in the picture, are they rejected too, I wonder? What about a ninja holding plastic num-chucks? LOL

Unbelieveable! I can't comprehend that rule when it comes to costumes. I would think that most adults could tell a prop from a weapon!

Great pic, by the way!

That sword looks real. Is it?

If not, it's very realistic. My guess is you did too good a job with your costumes.

Next time, make a cardboard sword and spray paint it silver.

You know it is not often I get to say this twice in one day.
That is the stupidest thing I have heard this week.
You Look fantatic, If for example he was using his weapon then I would say ok I can see that, but it was in its sheath and all. Not to mention that the sword was covered too.
Just plain silly

Yep, same thing happened when I tried to post my kilt pic on AFF. Though I was holding a musket instead of a sword. I didn't even bother asking them why...I just figured it was some kind of paranoia on their part. Part of the reason I'm not interested in AFF anymore. (That, and it's essentially a porn site)

If someone sent in a picture of themselves pointing an AK-47 at the camera, I could see rejecting it for being disconcerting and more than a bit rude. But a sword still in its scabbard? Or a flintlock musket of a model from almost 300 years ago? Come on!

Swing Lifestyle posted the same picture without a word! Thanks Swing Lifestyle! Luv ya!

LOL! If the silver paint is too shiny, they'd probably reject that, too.

It's not a really-real sword, it's a replica that I bought off of Ebay. It's made of stainless steel, but the edges aren't really sharp. They could be made sharp I guess, but...it's not a public school grounds, it's a darned sex site, for pete's sake. And it's just a picture of a sword. Heck, even in elementary school, they could bring a picture of a sword. I just don't get that!

LOL! I like your double meaning, Prettylady. Yes, the silly thing was sheathed, and he's just leaning on the thing! I felt the same way about it.

I hear you, Ed! I wouldn't like pictures of guns being pointed at the camera or at other people in the picture, BUT, pictures like you described and what ours is - that's nuts. They're historic replicas and shown as part of a historic costume.

I uploaded that pic on Swing Lifestyle and SN the same night I added it to AFF. The other two sites added the picture with no comments at all. Also, Julie obviously doesn't mind, because the picture is here on this website, too. AFF is being goofy.

Tybee, you should have told them that the only weapon was the loaded gun under his kilt.

Seriously though, we have had pics on Swing Lifestyle that was rated "XXX" lol. We put one on there that showed Jay's erect penis (IN PRIVATES!).....but Jay, thinking he was slick decided to cover it with a smiley face like this .......

NOT!

It was deemed "inappropriate". I didn't know that swingers were proper in the first place.

I think the admin was jealous of the size of his sword.

But, if it is their policy then they have the right to enforce it. Although I also think it's dumb, that is a real broadsword and not a plastic one from a costume shop or Walmart. If they budged on the policy you'd have all the gangsta' wannabes on there with their 9's.

Default Re: Our picture was rejected by AFF

I'm actually questioning the reasoning behind not allowing weapons in photos. I don't see a problem with it. In fact, if that was honestly what people wanted to show, then it would only help people that didn't like that sort of thing to weed them out.

I wonder what their reason is anyhow...
