I'm not sure about drawing too many conclusions about society as a whole from a sample of 120 college age males, but the article does get into some language that will sound vary familiar, even though swinging is never mentioned by name -

"I'm not advocating cheating; I'm advocating open and equitable sexual relationships. When both in the couple desire this, when both realize that extradyadic sex makes their partner happy, and they therefore want their partner to have that sex, a couple will have moved a long ways toward facilitating emotional honesty,........"

The sample consisted of 120 undergraduates - not what I would call a scientific sample of the male species. The age range is what, 18-23, tops! College aged kids, most not yet of drinking age, most away from home for the first time in their lives will not be exercising self control of any kind, sexual or otherwise on a consistent basis.
