Decent article but something to consider and remember.

Steve Mason was a director with the Lifestyles Org. for many years. His view is going to be in favor of us more then his colleges because of his experiences.

Steve over all is a very nice guy though that has worked to do good for the Lifestyle for many years.

Very interesting read. The one thing that wasnt shocking as I thought about it was this:

"The study concluded, however, that this was not the case. Significant differences between Swingers and their straight neighbors were simply not to be found. Compared to the population at large, about the only thing the researchers could find was that Swingers tended to be more from the upper middle class and tended to be more from the Conservative end of the political spectrum."

Take a second to look at the people you know in the lifestyle...how does his findings relate to your friends?

For the most part, at least from my experience, swingers are not likely to discuss their politics with someone they meet at a party or club. As it is here at the Swinger's Board, it isn't a topic of discussion. So in my opinion I am probably not going to have a clue about someone's political views that we swing with.

Same here, I have no idea what their political views are. In fact, if I did know, that would make it less likely we would be swinging friends since even though I find politics very interesting, it's about absolute bottom of my list of things to talk about at a swinging event.

Good article. This was my favorite part:

A lot of truth to that. Many people make the topic of sex WAAAAY too difficult, and not just as it pertains to swinging.

I certainly agree with you....at a party or club politics, career, religion are totally taboo. Most of us here develop friendships and relationships with others and "discover" our friends vanilla lives, careers, political views, etc if only by accident or by environmental absorption. Bumper stickers on cars are a dead give away!

I wonder if the political leanings mentioned in the study might be the result of sampling bias. Most swingers don't go to the Las Vegas conventions. But other than that, I thought the study's findings were dead on. I'll never forget the first time we went to a club, and there, in front of a giant tv screen showing giant penises and vaginas, people discussed their knee surgeries and which dogs make the best pets.
