The feds have charged Ewing with one count of tax evasion for failing to report income "related to the operation and sale of a prostitution business" he owned in 2005 and 2006.

According to the IRS, Ewing used Sindicate Media & Consulting to "disguise from the Internal Revenue Service the true source and amount of the income he received from Denver Sugar/Denver Players."

Did not see how they came about it but here is something that has happened in other cases.

Some hosts or club owners find the need to play when the club is open or the party is going on.

There has been some creative DA's that will call this prostitution.

Here is how they did it and see it.

You are the host, you collect something of value for people coming to your party. Donation or entry fee.

You get naked and play with PAYING guest. You just got paid to have sex! Thus, they come up with a prostitution charge.

Now, it is far reaching but I have seen some charged that way in the past when they are trying to close down a club or party.

I think this may go beyond VegasLee's analysis. Ewing hit Denver TV, paper's etc, a few years ago for the Denver Sugar/Denver Players thing which had nothing to do with swinging. According to the TV news, they were allegedly "high-end" escort services advertising as such on various escort websites. If I'm reading the above correctly, he was allegedly stashing the profits in companies doing something else and not reporting the income. Denver doesn't seem to have a big problem with swinger clubs per se, but I think in this case it looks like the IRS decided to use the Al Capone approach and go after the guy for taxes. Remember boys and girls: it's all about the money...pay your taxes!

Denver Sugar/Denver Players did big business in 2004 and 2005, attracting some high-profile clientele, who were charged $300 an hour. Ewing received roughly one-third of those fees, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Ewing, who now runs Sugar House on West Alameda Avenue, will be sentenced on December 27.

I just realized that this is near where I used to go to work every day. Westinghouse has a large-motor repair shop on Rio Grande Boulevard and I would drive my car or ride my bike down Alameda Avenue, go over the bridge, turn left, turn left, I was there. I don't recall that building but, hey, that was many, many years ago so I probably wouldn't.
