OH Swinger Clubs under Investigation

Clermont County officials are investigating several sexually oriented businesses after meeting with members of Citizens for Community Values.

These folks are getting all over the country. This same group has brought attention to clubs in many states already. They are well funded and have good legal consul. They plan on closing most anything related to "adult only" or have the laws made so tough that you can not afford to operate.

This is really starting to get to me. One of the clubs in the article has been operating at the same location for over 5 years! It has not has a any bad publicity, nor any legal issues in all that time that I can remember and we used to go there regularly. I am fed up with these conservative groups that feel that EVERYONE needs to think exactly like them and act just like them! We do not go around and try to petition these same groups from going to our schools and handing out literature to our kids without our permission. We are not running around to the 10-15 churches within a 10 mile radius of my house demanding that they close their door because what they are doing offends me! I get it, you don't like it, you think we all need to be saved! If we want to be saved, we know where to find you, so back the hell off until then! If you don't like the establishment, then don't support it.

These short sighted folks don't stop to consider the added revenue some of these clubs do bring into the area. (Not much I agree but they do help) With hotel bookings, alochol purchases, dining out etc. Close them down and you will lose that business. I know it isn't a huge amount of revenue, but in this economy, especially in Ohio, you would think you would be more open to business, not close them down. Then again, nobody ever claimed Ohio was all the smart or proactive about business.

Ok, sorry I'll step down from my soapbox now. It is just really getting to me that these right wingers think anything adult related MUST be stopped.

On a side note, the only item that I can see the one Ohio club having that I was surprised for years hasn't been brought up is that it is located directly across the street from a day care facility. Now the day care is always closed long before the club ever opens, but I am surprised someone hasn't used the "Protect the children from the child molesters that MUST frequent that establishment" arguement yet. MrsVan and I used to joke and say the day care could actually increase it's revenue if it actually opened up on Friday and Saturday nights. Just a joke though, please don't kill me for that.

They have a lot of interest in other adults' consensual sexual behavior, wonder how many of them have something "freaky" about themselves that they are hiding? Seems like you see someone going after adult oriented businesses, like it's the most morally repugnant thing ever; then they're doing things a hell of a lot "worse". Like who was that guy who always used to go after Larry Flynt years ago, when he was still based in Cincinnati? Didn't he get into trouble years later, for something having to do with embezzeling money? I might not be remembering right. Anyway, just seems like these people on such a morality trip; at times have a lot more skeletons in their own closets.

Are you talking about Sheriff Simon Leis of Hamilton County? He was the guy that I recall reading about all the time chasing Larry down. Matter of fact he is still in office as I recall, and he has a lot to do with getting the Hustler store that was in downtown shut down a few years ago. As I recall they send in a kid that was about 14 or 15 (who happend to be growing friggin beard!!) to purchase adult movies. When the clerk didn't check the kids id, the police came in and shut the place down. Sounded a lot like entrapment to me then and still feels wrong to me now.

I just wish that Americans in general would stop pushing their beliefs onto everyone else. This country was founded on people having different views and beliefs. I may not like or agree with everyone's views, beliefs or political stances, but I still feel strongly that they have every right to have those beliefs and they have every right to speak their mind. I just choose not to listen to them if I don't like them.

Yes Van, thanks; was simon leis I was thinking of. I must have gotten mixed up about the embezzelment thing. I don't understand the mentality, of someone having to push their beliefs onto someone else either; everything involves consenting adults- who are not interferring with anyone else's rights.
