We suspect that the trials will be held behind closed doors and the couples will be convicted. In China the law is whatever the Party (CPC) says it is. Legal "representation" is a joke in China as evidenced by numerous dissidents who have been tried behind closed doors, found "guilty" and sent to jail on trumped up charges of espionage or whatever else that the Party feels threatens its total control over the populace.

Susan here--In China, there are 100 women for 129 men. This creates a reproductive, social and sexual priority that will not be able to be stopped. This is simply one expression of it.

I'm really afraid Ma Yaohai will become a martyr for his cause.
Even if public opinion falls heavily to his side, he is still dealing with prosecutors that have no concerns about public opinion.

I really hope for the best for him.

I did more reading into this and found a reference to a swinging group manager/head type of person in China in the 1980s. He was found, tried, and EXECUTED.

These "culprits" got off "light"
