Susan here-- In college I was the student, never the partier. Even at 28, when I began experimenting with multi-partner sex, I have never been drunk when doing it. A glass or two of champagne perhaps, but that's it. The enthusiasm is for the experience of another person(s). This article, the writer's friend, and every other dynamic expressed does not reflect my voice, sexually. In other words, "What a load of crap...."

If you can't think outside of 'traditional' then you have no rights writing an article like this. This all goes back to fundamental thinking that sex is sacred and not just an enjoyable experience like any other enjoyable experience.

Well, I went ahead and read the article anyway...

The thing that you have to keep in mind is that the concept of swinging was so foreign to the author that looking into swinging for her was like finding out that her neighbors were aliens. So I think that this was an article that honestly reflected her inability to understand swinging. I will give her credit for honestly quoting the club owner. But even after talking to him, she still did not understand what she was hearing and continued thinking as she had before she started her research.

There are a lot of people out there that think like this, it is what it is.

Had I read this article when I was first married, I'd have reacted much as the author did. The idea/concept of swinging was completely out of my realm of understanding, so I have a tough time faulting her.

Obviously, I've changed my tune since then. I think swinging is one of those things where you either "get it" or you don't.

I think swinging is one of those things a person has to actively seek in order to actually recognise it, no matter how many times they otherwise stumble upon it.

I almost want to think that most couples never achieve the level of trust and respect that it takes to become swingers.

As far as this article goes, it would have been more helpful to focus on the true issues of the marriage and not the straw that broke the camels back.

I think (all personal opinion) that many marriages fail because couples put other things ahead of each other such as careers and children, etc. All of these things are important but a relationship is something that has to be worked on just like everything else or you forget why you fell in love in the first place.

This article was designed to suit a purpose and it did. It was never meant to be helpful or informative.
