GA Station doing a feature on Swingers

I haven't watched it, but I am surprised at the number of posts here that think the more stories, the more accepted the lifestyle must be. I wouldn't see any correlation and would be more inclined to think that the more stories, the more likely it is that someone is looking for easy, cheap ratings and a way for people to be disgusted by the "bad" behaviour of others.

Oh yeah, and thanks to earlier posters, I'm now reading it as "GAS" too . {Shakes fist}

Two points i found interesting..

First

the fact that they went to Swing Lifestyle, and wrote 300 people.. Problem being, they wrote and sent an external Email link We all know the software out there doesnt take kindly to external email addresses

Second,

They drop into a "adult" store, that yes given the economy, everyone is struggleing but damn, the place looks empty except for the bulliten board..

BTW, did you notice they blurred the board, but the "naughty bit" on the wall wasnt...

It was an ok story, until they went and brought in the the pastor.. Of course he is against it..

That would be like taking a PETA activist to a LEATHER STORE..

Par for the course I'm afraid, exactly what I expected given the location and desire to score some cheap ratings points. It followed the tried and true formula of simultaneously appealing to their outward self-righteousness and inward prurient interest.

Online polls are worth about exactly nothing, but I did find it funny that it the results weren't as lopsided as one might expect. I'm guessing the link from here might have helped with that a little

I got a kick too out of one of the background pictures in the video being a promo shot from the show "Swingtown." This whole thing was put together with a couple of hours on the internet collecting stuff like that, then an afternoon driving around town to get a few interviews guaranteed to give the desired responses. Hard-hitting investigative reporting at its best, way to go really digging into the subject matter and exploring all sides of the issue.

What counts as quite a buzz on their website? Grand total number of comments on both Parts 1 & 2 is 8, with the majority pro swing. Knew that part of Georgia was a sleepy place, but that's pathetic, can't even get the thumpers riled up. I guess sex just doesn't sell as good as it used to. Look close and you'll see that "quite" was spelled "quiet" - Freudian slip I guess

I saw these links under another post and responded but this looks like a better spot. Here is my cut and paste.

This is just a prime example of things that really upset me. You take the swinging lifestyle, throw in one marriage therapist and a pastor and put them all in a story and this is what you get - the reason we do not speak to the media, lol.

The marriage therapist:

"Elaine Gurley has been a marriage counselor for nearly 30 years and has worked with all types of couples, including swingers. She believes swinging may initially create a spark in the relationship, but eventually jealously will set in."

I would bet that these couples she has worked with, their issues started way before swinging. This board is full of people that have been swinging for 10/15 and some 20+ years. where is their story? Oh, it wasn't interesting enough for Fox.

I absolutely love this one:

I thought 'cheap sex' is why we get married in the first place?

So THAT is what is going on! A local A.M. Talk show in Charlotte just did a show and it seemed to blend over into swinging and talking about a local on-premise club with all sorts of secrets which happen to be known by most any local anyway! Sweeps week..go figure!

Wonder when they will pull out the 6 year old Dateline series on swingers. Or what was it ShowTime's own series on swinging couples. Actually I liked the Dateline piece.

So I have to ask....just what were you listening to on an A.M. station, lol?

A.M as in Morning, the A.M. Mayhem Show with Brotha' Fred. I don't listen to AM RADIO unless I am on the road after sundown, then I tune in to 650 WSM the Grand Ol' Opry, sure it don't sound good but they do have some good music on there and it comes in just fine in the Charlotte area after dark.

I really doubt that anything will come about from it, last weekend there was no big deal at the club. This week there was probably a few more new members than normal but not many more. I did notice a lot of people pulled their face pics though from the public gallery.
