| Online dating agency 'created fake profiles' Evidently it's illegal in Australia... but no one seems to have a problem with it here (except all of us members who get annoyed and just leave). |

I for one am shocked, SHOCKED I say! I thought those very attractive single females 100 miles away which out of no where send me an email right after I stopped paying for a certain site were all real. Now I'm sad.... |

In regard to the story published by The Sidney Morning Herald, I see conflicting statements. 1) An online dating agency created fake profiles and used them to "flirt" with registered users. 2) falsely represented that members could socialise with - and potentially meet - every profile that was viewable on the site. The second statement does not seem to imply that the dating agency's owners or operators created the fake profiles but rather leaves the door open to the possibility that registered members left fake profiles. The distinction couple be important is a legal action. | |

If the U.S. enforced a law like that most every "dating or swingers" site on the Internet would be in court and/or closed. There is not a "swingers dating" site based in the U.S. that does not have fake, made up or profiles of people that have not been on the site for years. Most of them won't even remove your profile if you quit their site and ask them to. |

That is one of the reason we do not belong to any type of site like that. We hook up through mutual aquaintences, parties or twice through this site.

Ashley Madison is almost entirely fake. The terms and conditions include a provision that they will post fake profiles for the purpose of doing marketing studies. If you google the reviews of the site, that's about all they post - then they send you fake 'come-on' letters, especially when it's time to spend more money to renew. Can you imagine if these places had to live up to normal truth-in-advertising standards? (POOF!) |

Not all of the profiles were fake. Our profile has been there as a "Guest" for a few weeks. But we have not had any real responses and now we know why. I don't think we will be parting with any $ for "Premium"
