A Carnival cruise ship that departed Tampa on Sunday is headed on what is billed as a chance for like-minded people to get away in an open, erotic atmosphere. More than 2,000 people are going on the unusual trip: a seven-day cruise for swingers.

How did I miss this one?

It looks like a "swinger cruise" might have actually happened for a change. They've been tried in the past and those who went either lost their money (scammers) or found out that it wasn't a full swingers cruise (they just took over a floor of the boat), or were much much smaller vessels (scooners).

You do realize, every individual on that cruise has just signed a sworn affidavit stating that they have taken a Lifestyle cruise?

Not to put a negative light on what should be thought of as a coup for the lifestyle, but, as the US Customs Department must check and ensure the citizenship of every soul boarding the vessel, their passport is scanned and logged for that particular journey! I can only see BAD coming from this. One famous person taking this cruise will have this information leaked.

And then there are individuals sneaking snapshots of those boarding. OMG! I can just see the blackmail now! HA HA HA!

I really hate my suspicious nature at times. It takes the fun out of so much of life. But, it has saved me from many ugly situations in the past. So, I will keep listening to that little man in my head. I just wish he would give me the damn lottery numbers.

Joinging the ship at the first port of call will only avoid the initial photo ops as you would line up to get on board. Your passport would still be needed to board. However, you might get away with not being too recognized if you also got off at that port. Hmmm... Good idea there.

As for those who sneak on board:

I think they would be foreced to work customer "Service" for the rest of the voyage! Now that would be interesting.

Much of the exhilaration of being in the lifestyle are the risks: being outed, disease, etc. The risks you mention are no greater than belonging to any swinger club (any incident could trigger a police raid), or posting on a swinger site for that matter. All I can tell you is that we went on that cruise and it was great -- but only if you like friendly people, nudity, sex, and taking risks. This was our fourth swinger cruise (first takeover) and we have loved them all. Can't wait for the next one!

I am not of the mind to be contrary by nature but I have to disagree with you here. I am convinced, perhaps incorrectly, that much of the exhilaration of being in the lifestyle has nothing to do with risk but more to do with the freedom of sexual expression. Please, ANYONE, correct me if I have missed something VERY IMPORTANT here.

Risk may be an inherent factor within the lifestyle. The possibilities of discovery, STD's and the like are there. However, if the correct precautions are taken, the "risk" factors are lowered and my perceived exhilaration remains the main focus.

That being said, I agree, there is no such thing as risk free. In spite of practicing safe sex, there will always be the potential for an STD. Going to a club will always contain a slight chance of a police raid. Drama is highly likely when engaged with new people. Does this add to our excitement in any way? I can honestly say these are detractors for Mrs. CXXC and me.

Going on a swingers cruise may sound fun to some. However, I prefer to keep the State Department ignorant to my involvement within the lifestyle. I should also mention that neither Mrs. CXXC nor I like cruises. And may I mention that I am not so pleased with paying $6.00 for a 12 oz can of heineken. On our last cruise our bar tab was equal to the cost of the cruise. THAT WAS NUTS! So, we will wave Bon Voyage as you pull from the dock and head to the nearest swingers club.

This is just our way of doing things. Not everyone agrees with us but that is the joy of the lifestyle. There are so many options and different views available to us! Aint the Lifestyle GRAND?

Ok, you MUST post a review of the cruise for all to read! Tell us about the activities, the events, any excursions. What were the rules? (Cameras, places activity was allowed, etc).

I must confess, for me, there is a small thrill in the "risks" that are involved. It's not a huge part of the equation, but it is in the equation.

I must also say, being part of a "secret, underground group of people" adds to our experience as well.

CXXC, I think we both agree with you on the sexual freedom part. All of the risk and forbidden fruit thing may have been there for the first time we played but after that it is the freedom. In fact one thing we are telling prospective partners is that we are looking for a friendship where we are all free to be who we are comfortable with rique topics and flirting is fun and accepted whether sex is happening or not. Even with the couples we have met where there is not a connection, there was still a fun feeling of freedom in not having to hide out true sexual natures.

As for keeping the government out of your life, I must say it is probobly too late. Unless you use numerous false blinds and foreign proxie servers you are probobly in a database somewhere in Washington listed as a swinger already. The problem is the only ones who can really hide are the ones so illigal they need to be caught.

Your other reason for avoiding cruises (drink costs) is a valid one. Bunny and I dont really drink so we do well on cruises. We have had some entertainment on invoice day watching all the shocked faces as they try to figure out how to pay their bar tab. We are OK as long as we avoid the art auctions and ship shops.

Through trial and error, we have become VERY adept at sneaking our alcohol on the ships. You really only need enough until you get to the first port, and then its easy. It works well with wine and liquor but not all that well with beer.

Our bar tabs are essentially nothing unless we want a foo foo drink at the pool once in a while

Both Mrs. CXXC and I need a connection with another couple that is not just a physical attraction but one that will enable us to be able to enjoy spending time with them. Sex is the second most intimate act we can think of (love is the first) to extend to another. If you cannot enjoy being with someone outside of your bed, how can you enjoy them in yoru bed?

I am more than certain the Govt. could pull up a few records from my financial statements and accociate me as a swinger. At the very least, they could say that I have been posing as one. Going on a lifestyle cruise with my wife is difficult to disproove or argue against. See the difference. In societies eyes, I can appear to be a lurker. On the cruise, I would be a member.

Mrs. CXXC and I know from the onset that our bill is going to be high. We consistantly fail to "smuggle" anything on board. The thought has never really occured to us before we have the bags packed and ready. That being said, we pretty much know that we are going to have a high drink tab.
