How Prevalent is the Swingers Lifestyle in Pittsburgh? - WPXI

Video interview of two area swingers included. Free publicity for Swing Lifestyle also.

Any thoughts on swingers telling news organizations about what goes on in specific clubs?

Personally, I, and I don't think that I am alone, would love to beat this guy senseless. Not that he has far to go. For what its worth, the guy wouldn't have to be beat much to get him to that point. lol

A little background. Check out his Swing Lifestyle profile - "dave_lisa2003" . Note that he refuses to belong to any swinger club, and he is certainly entitled to not belong. However, up until he went on the air yesterday, he used his profile to promote a "swinger friendly" bar in his area. Funny that he didn't mention it at all in the interview. Only he did manage to point them to Swing Lifestyle and a club a few miles from his bar - a club that he has openly stated he believes is a rip off. This interview was more advancement of his personal agenda than anything else. The net result here? I have already seen more than a few long time members' profiles disappear from Swing Lifestyle. I would be willing to bet that DJs is going to suffer abnormally low turnout for the next few months. Begs the question, why did he do this???

For someone who won't belong to a club he sure has been to them all. The guy in the interview just gave me the creeps really... not someone I'd want to meet - then looking at his profile even less so.

From my experience with these types of interviews and the type of people who will do them, most likely he did try to promote his barmeets but they cut that part out. I've seen a handful of others who have been more than happy to do an interview in an attempt for self-promotion get cut out of interviews altogether or have their interview chopped down to almost nothing. Instead we got left with another interview with someone who gives anyone who doesn't know that swingers are normal people the idea that we are all a bunch of creepy weirdos.

You actually tried? As soon as the colors started changing, I gave up. It goes back to that thread around here somewhere about people being so negative in their profiles.

Holy Cow! That IS quite the profile! First time I've run across one that I've not read to the bitter end. I've filled out mortgage applications shorter than that.

Guess it didn't help that the picture that came up attached to the profile shows him flipping the bird. Out of (morbid?) curiosity, I opened up the rest of his public pictures and saw that the one-finger salute seems to be a favorite greeting. And the artsy-fartsy treatment he gave to the photos makes it nearly impossible to see what he and "Lisa" look like in some of them. So much for being open...

I've seen some astonishingly off-putting profiles on Swing Lifestyle, but I think this is one of the Top 10.

About two months ago, the "Dave" of this Swing Lifestyle profile sent us an Swing Lifestyle message telling us he was going to be interviewed for TV and asking if we wanted to join him as representatives of the swinging lifestyle. Pretty strange, we thought, as we have never met him or his wife. Suspect that he was doing a shotgun e-mailing campaign. Strange on top of strange.

I don't think the news channel editors did anything more than present this story in a non judgmental way. They know the numbers locally. Who's to say Who's ,Who...(if ya know what I mean) The 11 guys, had a beef to pick and selectively hand chose the people to be interviewed. Someone infiltrated the club to find Dave (who wanted his 15 min. of fame), and Ann (who I have doubts about being in the lifestyle, but couldnt see her facial expressions) .....intintionally.

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette pans investigation.

........the report failed to really answer a question raised in its introduction ("How much swinging is actually going on in Western Pennsylvania?" news anchor David Johnson said).

The writer calls the story a "Sweeps Week Turkey".

I couldn't even imagine trying to read that profile after noting its length.

The news story itself wasn't bad, I think, until it got to discussion about the building - church or swing club? I believe it's imprudent for a swinger to out or draw attention to any club publicly. Society at large still condemns this lifestyle and will battle it tooth and nail.

Post Script: I agree. Dave seems to be on some short of ego trip. I do not think that this kind of free publicity for SwingLifestyle is helpful. It only provides the Finders of Filth and the people-who-have-no-good-reason-to-know a path to our private lives that they should not have. I have a strong suspicion that the owner-operators of the DJ's Island club are just about livid.

I agree. When the story about the club in Pittsburgh trying to claim they were a church hit the news, they shut off their membership to new people. They had just started accepting new members again when this bozo did his interview. Sadly, it has forced them once again to turn away new members. BTW, the "Ann" in the news station interview is actually "Dave's" wife Lisa. Wonder why she wouldn't show her face?? lol

Have to agree here. Good God, he's full of himself. When I open a profile, I expect people will show us their best light. A "bird" is not attractive, and shows his maturity, which he requires, according to his profile. I couldn't read the whole thing either, but it's in the bottom third or so.

I wouldn't have given this couple a second thought if I'd found it while browsing.

I thought his dress in his interview could have been a bit more on the formal side. At least a button down shirt. Wearing T-shirts when you know you're going to be interviewed is so tacky. He is supposed to be a representative of swingers as a whole. He could have brushed his hair, too.
