Book review for "America Swings"

Read article here

"America Swings" appears to be a collection of photos taken at various swing functions around the country. It looks like a varied cross-section of the swinging community is represented.

Anyone else have the immediate gut reaction of: "I hope it's not my club they were taking pictures at while I was busy?"

You don't have anything to worry about. I'm very confident that any pictures in the book where a subject is identifiable has had appropriate legal release statements signed by the parties that can be identified.

There's a slideshow there of images. The sixth one has a sign in the upper left that says "fuck with me and you fuck with the whole trailer park" Hmm. There's several different ways of reading that

Rule #2 of taking pics. Don't have pizza sitting on top of the commode!!! Candles, ok, pizza, NO!!

This rule might replace the current #1 one of posing next to the kitty litter...

Another interview with the photographer.

The book was named one of the 10 best photography books for 2009 by American Photo.

I thought people would recognize that if I can shoot swingers, who are not exactly chic and sophisticated, and make them comfortable, then I can shoot anyone. But I lost some commercial jobs as a result of those photos. There was one job that got taken away from me after I flew to the location in North Carolina. An executive saw the images on my site and became uncomfortable.

Without seeing the book, just the pictures from that site, and knowing how many swingers are camera shy, I have to wonder just how representative of the swinging community that book is.

Am I mistaken, or is picture #6 in the "View Gallery" section showing the woman holding a reciprocating saw that has had a makeover?
