Bad Information on an NBC Show

On a recent podcast, Dr. Laura Berman, host of the show "Better Sex" made some ridiculous claims about swinging.

About 15:15 into the show she says

It never works.

Unless you have superhuman capacity for openness, communication and not a jealous bone in your body. Which I've never met anyone like that so far.

I never found anyone who has had a successful experience with it. Where there wasn't major major conflict, rift, damage done to the relationship.

You're opening up a Pandora's box.

On her show she asks that people email her if they are "superhuman" and fit her opinion. I'm no superhuman, I'm no Doctor, but I do think she is very wrong and spreading bad information.

That said, I have enjoyed some of her other podcasts but I think she is plain wrong with her position on swinging.

I sent her a message to please do some more research before she gives that as 'final' advice to people. She's not a swinger and is not in the Lifestyle with other swingers, so her research group is probably VERY small and consists of people coming to her for 'help' anyway... meaning something is already broken and swinging was their 'fix' for it. We all know THAT doesn't work!!!

I also posted a big, huge comment. As usual. Man, I really need work on being more concise! People just stop reading after about the third sentence, I think.

Of course Dr. Laura Berman has never heard of a case where it worked, because happily married couples don't go to marriage counselors. The one's they do hear from usually are using swinging as a last ditch effort to salvage their marriage and of course since it was the last thing they tried before they split for good it is what gets blamed, because it's allot easier to blame it on someone or something else rather than admit that you yourself screwed-up your marriage.

Why would this lady ever hear of swinging working, the ones it works for does not go to her for advice.

i am surprised, i get her daily email and she suggests a lot of fun things to do, she even mentioned a 3sum in one email about a year ago ,and said it normally doesnt work but could if everyone was secure and jealousy is talked about before the 3sum but i have not seen anything regarding swinging in her emails.
