While I can understand (and even be sympathetic) that running a commercial operation (ANY commercial operation) in a residential area can be problematic (traffic, parking, noise, etc), I can't help but wonder if this group were holding, say, weekly tupperware parties (do they still have those?) as opposed to group gropes if anyone would have said anything? I suspect not.

We have a long way to go as a society, we're so incredibly sexually repressed it's depressing.

Yeah, that one had a couple more details than the original link I posted.


Couple of things:

1. If the neighbors have a bunch of anybody over every weekend, I'm going to get tired of it after a while, assuming it is creating a traffic issue. Even if it's a church youth group social, that does get old.

2. They were renting the house? Oh, that's going to go over real well! The owner is correct in their concern over the wear and tear.

3. You just knew one of the protesters would throw out the "Crime & Deviants" red herring. Ignorant jackasses.


Ok that was 3 things, and not a couple of things. But what's one extra among friends?

We were planning on checking that place out in the very near future with a few couples we "know". I think we'll put that on hold for a bit.

As it turns out we have another choice in our area that is well suited for our "hobby" so we'll stay with that for now.

It is a shame that people have such a negative view of what we do for fun but I do understand the traffic and related concerns in a residential neighborhood.

The question is, how do we educate non-swingers about our hobby so that they can understand we are NOT deviants? Is it possible? I think not...

There's a swing club in Melbourne Florida called 'The Hunt Club', it's been found out by not only the neighbors but by the local and national news. What makes this story unique to me is that the club owners are sticking to their guns, they insist that they're doing nothing wrong and do not intend to stop or curtail their activities. Local law enforcement even sent undercover agents into the club and reported no illegal activity, i.e., no sex for money, etc. But they're still trying to find some way to assign illegal activity to them.

The club's goal is to generate enough interest and funds, donations that is, to move to a more remote location.

The last report I read about the club's website, which I've been unable to locate even through Google, was that they've toned down the site significantly since the controversy hit the mainstream press.

OK, the longer story had a bit more info that is of consequence to the club. It seems they're leasing, they don't own the property. The owner is not going to renew the lease so that will be then end of the club at that location.
Having a club in a lease / rental location can raise al sorts of problems, the primary one being that if the owner finds out, the agreement can be cancelled, at the lease not renewed.
