When you accidently put your post in the wrong place, can you delete it? I accidently put it as a reply thinking it was a new thread, i tried to delete it, but there wasnt a "delete" button, i was only able to modify and erase it and put "oops". Howcome the members cant delete thier posts here?

You can edit but not delete. You only have a certain amount of time you can even edit your posts. If you had the power to delete you could make a post and many could answer then you delete your post and the others look stupid for answering something that is not there. ![]() Many forums do that, it works. |

Exactly what Lee said. This is a forum for adults so everyone is expected to behave that way and stand behind what they say. Unfortuntely, that doesn't always happen so we force it by implementing editing time limits and not allowing threads to be deleted. If you post a thread in the wrong forum or (as you did) as a post instead of a new thread all you have to do is let a moderator know by either PM one of us directly, posting a comment following your post, or reporting the post (using the report this post button to let us know and we'll be happy to move it for you. The mod team here is excellent and usually things can be taken care of within minutes of your report. As for editing, we figure 3 hours is more than enough time to figure out that you meant to say something more or that you wanted to edit it for spelling or grammar. As Lee said, if we allow more than that (and even within that time period it has happened) people can come back and completely change their response making it impossible to make sense of following posts. This forum is about helping each other, so it's important to understand that even while you may have gotten your answer your question and the answers that follow (or your posts answering someone else thread) not only help the original poster but many who follow. |
