Do you regularly get emails letting you know that you have a new PM waiting or that a thread you are subscribed to has been updated? These are both options that you can set in your User CP (Control Panel). For those who have enabled these settings have you had any issues with getting those emails? |

Yes and yes. I get emails for subscribed threads and for new PMs. To my knowledge, I've not any problems getting these emails. |

Yeah but it's not a big deal to us. We unsubscribed to the "daily" emails to suscribed thread but still get them. Not really an issue though.

They work fine for us. I just recently turned our thread emails off because we are on so many threads that we were getting 25 emails a day letting us know of new updates.

I have received both and do not think that there is any problem.

I was originally signed up for emails to subscribed threads and for PM's, but changed that option because it was clogging up my email box. I still get the occasional subscribed thread emails, but it's no biggie.

For those who were getting too many you can also select the option to only get emails on subscribed threads weekly. You can also elect to subscribe to your favorite forums (instead of specific threads) and have the same instant/daily/weekly options to stay informed.

![]() I was hoping by asking that I'd find out it was a system issue then I could chase down how to fix that. When it's just one person it's a lot harder to figure out.

OK now we're back to getting like 5 emails a day. And we've completely disabled all email notifications. They still come through.

Full Throttle - Make sure under your options, Messaging and Notifications, everything is unchecked and default thread subscription mode is Do Not Subscribe. Then go to Quicklinks in the menu bar above, Subscribed Threads. Select all threads, checkbox on the right side of the list, then in the dropdown at the bottom of the page select Delete Subscription. There is also an option for No Email Notification. You must click the Go button next to right of the dropdown in order for changes to take effect. |

I believe this is an issue with one of the versions of vBulletin. Try updating to the latest version. Like version 3.8 See if that helps.

As far as upgrading, I'd love to... but the problem is the same problem we've had in the past with doing so... too many add-ons that won't convert easily... requiring the need of someone who knows what they are doing better than I.

Julie, I understand. Some things are gonna have to be done manually. Because it's just a few folks then ask them to do as I suggest above, make sure everything in their settings concerning messaging and notifications is turned off or disabled, then they need to delete or unsubscribe to all subscriptions. That will just give you a "zero" place to start for that particular user where you will know where everything should be set. If that stops all notifications for the user, then have the user re-enable the settings they want. That may be all it takes to toggle the entries in the SQL data base for that user. If it always seems to be related to just one user or group of users then it's more likely related to vBulletin. If is seems it's random and or picks different users to fail then it could be your host SMTP is having issues. Here you can globally turn off each users notification: AdminCP → Maintenance → SQL Queries → Drop Down Menu Turn them off from the Admin and see if that makes it stop, if it does, then maybe have the user disable all their settings and then try re-enabling them to see if that corrected the situation. See if you can run a test on the installation of vBulletin to make sure that all your installed file permissions are set correctly. I don't know where in vB to do this in the AdminCP. If it exists you'll have to look for it. The reason is that if a file is set read only it may not be able to update if it needs to be edited. vB I think has a way for the Admin to verify that all the files that support vB are set to the proper permissions. Also try: AdminCP > vBulletin Options > Email Options > Use Mailqueue System to see if that makes any improvements. See if that helps and if not I'll try to come up with some other suggestions. |
