members locations

Hello there group,
I was wondering if there is anyone else in this group that would like to meet some of the members here but find it difficult because of not knowing the state they are in. Does anyone think it maybe a good idea for members who want to that is put at least the state they are in to post it? and for this group to post the members by state as to help instead of just having then listed?
I am also addressing this to Julie as she maybe a big help in answering this question for me.

Those who wish to can include their location in their profile, which will then show up with every post they make as well. You can also include your Swing Lifestyle profile name (which will automatically be linked to your external profile on Swing Lifestyle - if you have one). Most of the members here can be found on Swing Lifestyle (if they choose to be).

That said, for those who wish to make it easy for other to contact them they can do so. We do not allow searches of the member database because this site is not a hookup site. This site is geared towards open discussions of the swinging lifestyle, regardless of your location.

If you want people to know where you are you might want to update your location to say more than just a city. Since our members are scattered across the world, just seeing "torrance" doesn't tell me a thing about where you are located.

FWIW: I've already addressed this in the thread you started in August regarding the same question - members list

hello Julie I'm sorry for being so redundant but I just thought that automatically listing members by state would be a big help. They don't have to say what city their in but a state would be a good start. I know its not a hook up site but like you said if people are willing to share information then so be it. Thanks again ..... its all cleared up and I won't bring it up anymore.......LOL

This may or may not be in line with the topic subject but might help and also what might be fun to see is a "Swingers Board Member Map". Say a map of the US or the world for that matter and just "dots" that locate a member either anonymously (no name, no identifying reference, just a generic reference to an area by a "dot") or if a member prefers there can be a flag popup with their member name when the users cursor moves over the "dot". Just located to the city, no street or no address info. For example, nothing more than Swing Lifestyle has for location. Opt in or Opt out, whichever the member chooses to protect privacy.

It might be fun to see...something like a "Google map" and there might be "An app for that"...

I could help to build it and code it.

Just a thought.

That would be neat, it sounds kinda like the map on class mates dot com.

I have a strong suspicion that many of the members of this bulletin board appreciate the anonymity it provides and take advantage of it to ask questions that would not otherwise be asked. I have nearly as strong a suspicion that if even the perception of a loss of this anonymity arose, many would would not return.

There was a map, once upon a time, and not too long ago. But I don't know what happened to it. It was something new that Julie offered. I didn't list myself on the map. Didn't feel the need to.

Julie will probably post some info about it.

If someone wants to get the attention of others in their area, for the purpose of meeting, they can post a thread in the Personal Ads forum and list their city and state in the title to get the attention of other SB members from their area. Someone may contact you that way.

As a member who reads the forums and participates in discussion, I'm in the habit of looking at the posts to see where the member lives, if they care to list that info. That way, I get a feel where people are from.

It looks like it's an issue with Frappr - the site that hosts the maps - as it is loading extremely slowly itself.
