Default Fork Thread Option

We're new to this very nice forum. I (JW) have been a part of another forum that had a "fork" thread option. This is something all boards could use. I've seen examples of it here already, including one from myself.

How many times has a thread gotten off topic? maybe 30% - 50% of the time? I would guess a little more than that.
How often does Admin or a mod have to come in and tell people to stay on topic or make a new thread?
More than anyone wants to, I'm sure.

This fork option adds a new icon to every post, its called.... "Fork" of course.
Now, you read a post that you wish to reply to but not on the original topic of that thread. Instead of taking the thread off topic, click the fork icon and the post you just read, along with your reply, starts a new thread with the new topic.

From what I'm seeing you just updated the forums, I was wondering if this is an option you could turn on, or not an option at all?

Default Re: Fork Thread Option

That's definately an interesting option. As far as I know that's not something that is available with this software, but it definately sounds like something that every forum could use. Thanks for the suggestion.
