I think that in general you are right. We have many areas of this site and what I have found is that for the most part people use one particular area of choice, whether it's the forums, the chat room, the stories or something else. I have found that people who like to chat often don't like forums and vice versa.

We had something like that at one time, back before I broke things. It wasn't quite the same but it was a seperate link that let you see who was in the chatroom without going in. I don't know if anything like that is available with the new upgrades or if Mike may be able to come up with something, but we'll see what can be done.

Anyone who wants to schedule a group chat, feel free. As LM posted once upon a time we did weekly group chats on particular topics, but to be honest, it's a pain the ass to play host/mod to those and as fewer and fewer poeple wanted to be the host, it got harder and harder to schedule them. If you want to do a group chat at a certain time just let me know ahead of time and I'll be happy to post an announcement. Or you can just post something on the board and see who shows up.

I think a way to see who is in chat before logging in yourself would really be nice. I know I would be more inclined to take a peek if I could do so without having to log into chat first. If I saw some members in chat that I'd be interested in conversing with, it would make all the difference to me. I might try becoming a chatter now and then.

P.S. FYI - I couldn't get the multiple quote feature to work just now so had to copy and past tribbles comment in separately. Multiple quote worked the other day for me, so I don't know what's up.

TexasMike rocks once again. You can now view who is in chat without logging into the chat room. Just click the "Quick Links" link on the top menu and then from the drop down menu you will see a "Who's Chatting" link. that will open a page that shows who is in the chat room.

That would be nice! It would be neat to talk to everyone in "real time"....you feel like you almost know people who are regular posters.

Well, we used to go in chat fairly regularly, then it kind of petered out. We may have to check back in sometime and reintroduce ourselves. We made some good friends when we were active there.
