There is a couple easy ways. Of course if you have Photoshop or GIMP simply crop and then resize the picture to 100 X 100 px. You can also get Picasa2 from Google for free and crop it square then export it at 100 px. Lastly, another free angle is if you are a member of Flickr (Yahoo's photo sharing site) you can upload the image you want to be your avatar to your Flickr profile and then click on "All Sizes" and chose "Download" either the 75 X 75 option or the 100 X 100 option and save it to your hard drive and then upload it here, or you can add the URL of the avatar to your Swingers Board profile and it will show-up.

Or even easier right now would be to email it to SwingerCast.

My avatar shows off my fav. pair of boots... and shows a bit more. I am wearing a thong, even though in the picture it doesn't really show.

I hope it isn't too graphic for the board. I haven't seen a rule on avatars yet...

Per the Expected Behavior Post from Julie:

"Pictures - Any pictures posted should be no more than R rated (no genitals showing). Pictures are welcome in your Intros and in the Personal Ads forum but please refrain from posting pictures in each post/ thread that you make. Pictures posted inappropriately will be removed by the staff."

Since avatars are pictures in one form or another, this standard may apply to avatars. I'm sure the final ruling will come down soon enough.

That pretty well sums it up. Since they show boobies in R-rated movies then I'd say you can get away with them.

Keep in mind the main reason for this rule is that some people do surf this site when their kids are home or when they are at work, so we try to keep things that they have to look at pretty tame.

It seems to be possible for more than one member to have the same Avatar. For example, Fantasy01 and Playful1. This is putting me a little off the track. All these years reading this bulletin board an I never noticed this? I'm embarrassed.

Yes, it is possible and that's why you'll see a number of members with the same one. The Swingers Board has a selection of avatars members can use. Most people start with one of those until they reach 10 posts, which is when you can load your own personal avatar. Many people do this, others stick with an avatar from the SB selection.

My earlier post in this thread is now old news. I removed my personal avatar and am using one of SBs. I hope no one else uses it because I'll have to find something else for people to identify me by.

Like you, Michael, I associate people with their avatar.

I have uploaded a couple of different avatars over the last few years. I think this one I'm going to use for a while as I like it too. I captured a frame from a videocassette featuring 1900s and 1910s sex movies. Picture proof that partner exchange is not a new concept.

My avatar is from a picture of me at the zoo leaning up against a tree. I liked the expression on my face in the original picture so that's why I cropped it down to just my eyes.

My avatar is a picture of me on Jan. 1, 2008. I had my camera with me since I did the Polar Bear Swim that morning and I wanted some type of verification. My local YMCA was open that morning, so I swam laps after the Polar Bear Swim in an effort to get warm again. I took the picture in the avatar right after my workout. I thought I'd use it as a "before" picture and -- after a few months of adhering to diet and exercise New Years resolutions -- then in April take an "after" pic for comparison purposes.

Well, unfortunately, it's been all downhill since New Years Day! Maybe I'll wait until June to take that "after" pic.
