Avatars!!!

I changed my av several times during the "WTF" period when all the avatars went missing. So it was a surprise when it came up. I usually have the one of me smiling...cropped of course. But the one I have up now is of a famous painting called "The Kiss" by Klimt. Klimt was a shit-disturber in his day, rebelling against the art world's muted sense of propriety. By today's standards his work was anything but pornographic, but it certainly caused a stir back then. This particular painting is one I really like. Use Google Images search for Klimt "The Kiss" and view the whole thing. I dunno...I just felt it was a powerful representation of masculinity and femininity, and how the two, while different, merge beautifully (especially in their shared cloak/blanket). I love the intimacy of it. According to one Queen's professor's theory, it is actually a depiction of Dionysis and Ariadne (the flowers in her crown correlate to a constellation related to the myth), but it's a sadder story, and I like my interpretation better.

Oh... and mine avatar is me. My hubby picked it out to put here..... I don't love it, so it will most likely change.

Mine has changed back and forth a bit. The vixen is a Coop drawing being the Rockabilly music guy I am, and the witch is also a Coop and I'm using it now because... well it's Halloween and Mrs. WS and I are Wiccan and the Witch has a Pentacle tattoo on her butt. It just all seemed to work: Coop/Wiccan/Witch/Halloween.

Ive tried and tried and every time I get a picture down to 20k size it doesn't even look like people. How do I make a picture 100 x 100 pixels and less than 20k? What am I doing wrong. One of you swinging geeks help me!

I looked up Klimt's artwork on google ... interesting that his work was deemed 'pornographic' -- a lot of artists in past time periods did a lot more riske art than he did.

Thanks for sharing though ... I don't know his work, so that is fun.

And ... I must say ... i do miss your old avatar ;-)
