I have a question about the insert link button. Use to was that one could type a word or words which would be a pointer to a webpage. Now it seems to just put the link in the post as http://www.whatever. Is there something I'm not doing correctly??

Yea, that one threw me at first too, you can still do it though, it just is done different now.

What you do is type the text that you want to represent the link in your post. Then after you finish your post drag your cursor over the text you want to be the link, while holding the left mouse button depressed to highlight it, and then click the link button and enter the actual link. As an example this would be a link to this page. As soon as you click ok it formats the link properly in the post for the text you highlighted.

Thanks Good Times. I'll try that. I experimented with it as a test on a preview post, saw the coding but not the result. But it looked like it would work.

Yep, that was my bad. It is the other way around on other forums that I manage, this one is a bit different because of the age of the old software package

Don't know if this is just happening to me, or to others, too...

None of the threads I've participated in recently are showing up in my "User CP" area. I generally go there first before anything else. It's hard to find the threads now, without that feature working.

What shows in your USER CP are threads you have "subscribed" to. YOu may want to check your settings to make sure that you are automatically subscribing to any thread you participate in.

I like to view "Currently Active Users" now and then to see what people are reading. Before the upgrade, guests were all listed as "guest." Now I also see some listed as Yahoo Slurp Spider.

Cute name, what's it mean and how are they different from other guests?

Can the font be in black? I find it hard to read especially after a full day.

You can change the forum skin.

Go to the bottom left of the forum page and you'll find a drop down menu listing your choices. Try the different ones out and see what you prefer. You might like the VBulletin 3 Standard or Foggy - both use black font.

Once you decide what you prefer, go to User CP; under Control Panel in the left-hand column click Edit Options. At the bottom of that page you can select the Forum Skin you want...just remember to click "Save Changes" once you make your selection.

Spiders are computer programs that search engines use to find out what is out there... in this case you saw a Yahoo Spider checking out the site and grabbing information.

Could the size of uploaded images that appear directly on a post be limited in size?

If they are REAL large they stretch out the thread.

We only allow images without moderation in two forums - personal ads and intros. The max # of pictures allowed in a post is 5. I'm trying to figure out if there is a way to limit the size of the images.
