Swingers Board History

I was browsing the site just now and just curious about the oldest post here. I figure Julie would have it for some reason

Then I got to thinking about the history of the Swingers Board. I haven't seen that anywhere. I thought it might be interesting info. I guess the Board is old enough to have history by now. It's even been mentioned in Playboy.

Just saw something else and wanted to add to it here.

I had my mouse over a post and a number appeared. It was around 287075. Then each post I put the mouse over had another number close to that. Realized it was the order of the number of posts on the board.

This led me to think. What is the earliest post and is it still here? Just more history.

I seem to recall that a lot of old posts were archived a few years ago, so possibly the very oldest ones are no longer accessible.

You can access some of the the Archived Threads here . They are "read only" but still fun to look back over.

Probably the closest to a history is in the interview I did a few years ago here on the site...

The forum actually started in 2000 (from the looks of the oldest posts I'm seeing I'd say June of 2000) and we switched to this software in 2002. The site itself started in 1997 on Justsay.com and then moved to SwingersBoard.com in 1998. At that time it was just personal ads, then I added a stories section and club listings. The forums is actually one of the newest additions to the site.

The thread numbers aren't always indicitive of the age of the thread, since often newer threads get merged with older ones and depending on how they get merged determines whether the newly merged thread takes on the thread # of the old thread or the new one.

Ok, I have a question for Julie on something I just noticed. There must be a logical reason, but my listed join date is July 2002, but Julie's listed date is November 2002, four months later. So how did that happen?

I may not always have the firmest grasp of the obvious, but I am pretty sure you were already here when I arrived.

It went away with the personal ads... actually before the personal ads went away. Keep in mind when the site first started ALL that it had was personal ads... and that was in the day when there were very few personal ads sites where you could post for free... most of them you paid to post and then viewed for free (the opposite of how they work now).

Not sure exactly how that came about... but yes, I was here before then and if you look at my post dates they show posts prior to Nov. 2002. I think it may have been an issue from converting from one forum software to another.

Hi Julie,

This post got me curious as to who is listed as the oldest member

. So, I clicked on the Members list, clicked to sort by the join date and found MiCpl joined on 6-28-2000. Congratulations MiCpl.

As I looked down the list, I noticed several that although they joined later, last visited on 12-31-1969 (mmmmmmm...... 69)

I found this amusing!

I've been a member longer than Julie too

The 1969 date came about when the forum was migrated from one software to another. I'm not sure why that date was used, but I believe it got applied to all users who were already in the system but who have not been active since that migration.
