I will change my Avatar on Sunday - this one was quick, easy and it is an OSU game day and I think that's supposed to be important where I live! And the rock sign - I still can't believe that the State of Hawaii paid to put those signs all over the park. Is rampant rock piling really an issue in the state?

Sorry about the problem with the Mac. You may want to contact the company and ask them about the problem. We were having problems resizing something for an avatar and just lucked into the little program. It downloaded to our computer (PC) just fine. When we bring it up, you browse for a picture and click it in. Then set your size and save to your hard drive. Then upload to the Swinger Board. I would guess that you can find one for a Mac. We will look around.

| Sarah&Roger's Female Half | Thanks for the info. regarding the Mac. I'll have my desktop PC back in about 10 days - we lent it out to friends who needed a more powerful (more updated?) computer to run a program - meanwhile they are buying themselves a new one... should have it back soon. It's been hard having to use my old ibook for the last month plus. Hubby has a new Mac powerbook too, but he's been keeping it at work lately. So, for a household that has three computers - we stoop to using one old ibook!! I'll put up a new avatar when I get the PC back! Thanks for the link to the sizer - I'll use it, I'm sure! Sarah |

Sorry for the thread jack but PILING ROCKS is a significant change. Roger and I were driving through Canada - from Niagra Falls to Sioux Ste. Marie - and we were entertained almost the entire drive by rock piles. The higher the better, it seemed. We'd never seen them before. Of course we were just north of the border from Ohio and Michigan - as Julie mentioned in her post. I still don't know the reason for it - but I'll go back through the Cafe and see if I can find the old thread - it would be interesting to learn what the reason for the rock piles are. Sarah

| Swingers Board Addict | Glad to see more avatars showing the pictures of the members and more pictures on the personal profiles. We have some very attractive and classy ladies. Of course we have some hunks and my wife has made notes on all of them. For those of us regular people, we need love too. |

| Swingers Board Addict | Sarah, It's not the rock piles that are important to Ohio and Michgan...it's the rivalry between Ohio State and Michgan football teams that is the important thing. Although I agree with other posters, who would have though rock piling would be such a widespread problem? Maria Quote:

Status: Married Female SLS Name:DGrey | I'm not a big fan of avatars of actual pictures (especially at 75x75) because they rarely do justice. It's hard to get a clear pic of a couple at that size. One person, it looks all right though. Our avatar is more fun...and fitting to both of us. facelick We have a pic in our profile. E

| Celebrate perversity | I hate to break in on the avatar love-fest here, but I have some breaking news about rock piles in Hawai'ian parks. Okay, not breaking news, since the following articles are from 2005, but they explain the rockpile situation in Hawai'i. The rockpile problems seem to be: 1. Park visitors actually destroying lava flow geologic features to create rockpiles 2. Unauthorized-rockpile-builders confusing hikers with rockpiles that may disorient hikers who depend on purposeful/permissable trailmarking rockpiles (established by rangers). 3. Some native Hawai'ians consider the practice disrespectful (the articles did not go into much detail, but it is considered disrespectful because rockpiles were considered boundary markers in traditional Hawai'i and probably because of the whole lava-as-an-output-of-the-volcanoes thing...similar to how the Aborigines feel about the land in Australia.) 4. Something else, but I forget Here are some descriptive articles: http://www.usatoday.com/travel/desti...no-rocks_x.htm http://starbulletin.com/2005/11/05/news/story06.html Your nerdy researcher, Thrax P.S. Any of you Canucks encounter similar issues with inuksuks?
