Every message board I've ever attended ends up with a "who's addicted to this board?" topic sooner or later.

From a guy who's been on the 'net since the early 90's (and lived on bulletin boards and IRC for hours on end), the addiction to message boards has lessened over the past couple of years. I'm still likely to pop on and read in my spare time, but I answer less now than I used to.

One thing that's always stumped me: I read of couples raving about having great marriages, but one or both of these same couples live their whole lives on message boards (or ICQ or Yahoo or whatever). I never say anything. I never comment. But I wonder. It strikes me that their internet life takes a priority over their personal lives, even their marriages.

Yes, internet addiction can be amusing. It can be an indication of something serious too. But hey, I've been there so I can hardly be critical.

I've spent many late nights awake here on the board when I should have been sleeping, resting for the next day ahead. It could be said that I have a general internet addiction. I can never get enough info about topics that I'm interested in, especially if it has to do with sex.

I told MrVan tonight that I guess I am somewhat addicted to the board after all.. I find myself working on my homework and my mind wonders to what is going on with the board....I end up spending more time on the board and less time doing my homework

Yesterday was the first time in months that I didn't get on the board before going to work AND at lunch. I didn't get on the board until early evening. ALL day long I was wondering what was happening on the board! It's amazing how much a part of me this whole group has become!

Sarah, I know where you're comming from. I work weekends, and as I've mentioned, I need to start getting more sleep. I'm going to attempt not getting online for the next three days, because if I log on I stay up very late. It's going to be tough.

yes my husband is additive, me about once a week, i like the board i find it interesting and lots of adult talk, i with the kids alot so this is great adult talk for me, maybe will be additive soon

I'm stuck at the office... I've done what I need to do.... so what do I do? I hit the board. What they don't know is that this is WHY I turned my desk so that my back is not to the door...lol.

luckily, I also know that at my office no one is checking to see what you are doing online, nor does anyone care since no one is punching a clock.
