Default Quoting another person

Funny thing happened to me on another thread.
I made a statement in a thread that had become VERY heated.
Someone was kind enough to quote me, and conviently(SP?) left out the last 5-4 words of my sentance changing the whole meaning and making me sound like a right royal C**T.
Needless to say I was pissed off. Anyone who reads only parts of the thread. (I have been known to do that) could possibly have only seen this person mutated version of what I said and then thought badly of me.
People if you are going to quote someone use some class and decency and quote the whole sentance or paragraph. I have seen this done to plenty of people here.
If however, it is a light or fun thread and adjusting a quote adds to a joke that I don't have issue with as it is not intended to make one person look bad and another person look good.

Julie works hard to keep this board classy and welcoming. but in my opinion some of you have the ability to pull it down into something shitty.
If you can't respect the person who you are misquoting then atleast respect the other people on this board how work hard to keep this place fun and full of intresting topics.

Your friend,
Prettylady

Hey Prettylady it certainly can happen though I notice most people don't get into that stuff on this site. You can always put the full quote in your response and call them out in that thread. To be honest there are so many threads running I don't always get back to things to even know how others have responded though I do try.

In the only controversial thread I could find going right now, where you were quoted, they seemed to have quoted you accurately and even applauded your thoughts...ahh well

I don't think I was the one who misquoted you. I think I just referred to what you said.

Crap. Now I'm all paranoid...

And apparently with good reason, having gone back to the other thread.

Perhaps because it was my quote that was not quoted correctly is why it bothers me more then most of you. If you want to call me out on something I said I will defend myself, or if I find after rereading it I am way out of line then yes I will appologize.
But the misquote left out a key point which did make me look like I was critizing people who struggle with weight.
But like I said it was my quote that was not correctly addressed therefore pissed me off.
I am a happy calm person and this is disturbing my calm so I am off for awhile.
Bye

I often quote part of a sentence, in which case I insert ... where the missing words should be. More often than not, the quote is merely a way to say, "You were saying..."

I apologize if I was the one who offended you.
