Heroes well those are different for me, teachers (who I first thought of as perfect and wonderful and just wanted to be one when I was growing up) doctors, nurses, firemen and police (all who were wonderful and helped me through difficult times after a nasty car accident), soldiers (who sacrifice themselves to keep me and others safe) and my grandparents (who were the best people in the world and saw the best in me) . There are many fun people who make this board interesting...by the way Avid welcome...it is a better place than some others we both may know.... ![]()

![]() Just kidding ...I love the avatar. When I first began lurking on this board I recall a full body shot, I may be mistaken however. It reminded me of a roman god. As a newbie and having read just about everything on this board, I have my personal favorite members, but I feel everyone is wonderful. sb Last edited by sbjr3 : 08-21-2006 at 09:10 PM. | |

| Mmmmm...tasty! | Wow, I have many, for different reasons: LikeMinds--always so thought-provoking. Asks really great questions. Vespertine--what happened to her? I usually agreed 99% of the time with what she said...and that avatar!! facelick As much as I can't believe I'm going to say this: JnCC. Always consistant. I may not like everything he says, but he doesn't pussyfoot or mince words. Of course, I enjoy just about everyone's posts, but there are some that I can count on to be entertaining, if not informative as well. Pepper

My intent certainly wasn't to exclude anyone. I guess the spirit of the thing is just to show appreciation for the people who have expressed positive attitudes. I have just been impressed by the distinct lack of flaming on this board. I participate in several other online forums, and the level of maturity is sorely lacking. One forum for my chosen profession is UNBELIEVABLE! These people are educators, but their reactionary jump-down-your-throat manner is incredible. In contrast, the folks on this board have discussed many issues that strike close to home emotionally. Certainly the discussions have gotten heated, but everyone seems to have offered sound advice, and gone out of their way to criticize the ideas and not the person. And I've seen a great willingness to apologize and retract comments that were hurtful to others. I'm just impressed, because the people on this board seem to be an exceptional cross section of human beings in general. Not to mention the above average level of intelligence, humor, sexiness, and the variety of interesting hobbies. Guess it's just my way of saying "Glad to be here", and a "Thank You" shout out to those folks I originally mentioned for making it a good place to be. |

We have been lucky here to keep a great group of people on this board. Some wonderful people have come and left and come back again, others have left, and many more are still here with new ones being added every day (yourself included). We occasonally get some negative people but almost everyone who comes here ends up adding something positive to the board. |

SLS Name:Spoomonkey | As an ardent supporter of the "Mrs. Good Times for First Lady" campaign - hoping to be named chairman - I withdraw my candidacy and break ranks with the politically motivated... Having been on this board for closing in on three years - the one person I could always rely on for wisdom, an even response (even when I didn't agree) and a very solid spirit (courage, compassion and simple goodness) has always been Alura. And, in my opinion, I agree with Amanda69 - hero is a term maybe not meant for people who write humorous, though ocassionally vacant posts (like your's truly). But if anyone deserves the title, it is Alura... No - it is THE Aluras... I really have made a lot of friends - and I have come to respect/count on/look for many around here. And the list would be unfair to many folks who are relatively new, yet still make me go "hmmm". But I don't think I will hurt many feelings by saying that Alura is a personal hero of mine Spoomonkey

Wow, that lady needs her own talk show. Very very smart woman, who seems to possess both "book" smarts and common sense. That's sometimes a tough combination to find. |

If we were both available at the same time I'd be writing her poetry. ![]() But the couple (this way I can have my hero and heroine in a package deal) who I've always enjoyed reading posts are T&T. Ted seems cool and Teresa is just so darn cute! And they do have thoughtful and interesting comments too.
