Why are you here?

I just past my one year anniversary of being on this site and I was thinking about why I originally came to this site. We are not officially swingers, maybe someday, no hurry. I was interest to find out how we compared to others in the lifestyle. We have been together for over twenty years, our sex life is good and our relationship is better then it has ever been. I actually didn’t know if there were others like us in the lifestyle. It has been very refreshing to find many that are what I would call normal.

I have learned much about the swinging lifestyle good and bad. I have also learned more than I bargained for, from anal stains to soggy biscuits .

I thought it would be interesting to find out why others ended up here. I have based the poll on some of the threads I have read.

I realize some of you have been here for a long time (maybe even before the internet) and may not remember why you are here.

Wow, I just looked to see if I had been here a year yet, and lo and behold, my one year anniversary is coming up in a couple days. Where did the time go?! lol

Anyway, interesting poll B, and my answer was I came here because I was curious about the lifestyle and the people in it. I have learned tons from reading posts and the informational threads, and I found out it was even more vast in scope than I could've imagined. In a good way though. I think people in the lifestyle, are some of the most respectful, mature, grounded and nicest people around.

It's been a great learning experience...and I'm STILL learning something new nearly every time I come here

I came to learn but at this stage the board has very little to teach me, as we have graduated from 'swing school' so to speak.

Now its more to teach that I am here, and most of what I post has that in mind. No one can give me answers to questions I pose here any better than I can at this stage, but I do hope the responses help others.

How did I get here?

I recently asked myself: What do I like to do for fun these days (ideally)? After careful deliberation, it came to me: I like to chase skirt. So I asked myself: where can I find people who share my interest (in recreational sex)? Then it hit me: Swingers!

When I first surfed the SB, I wanted to learn as much as I could about the lifestyle and technique. In this respect, the SB is awesome. Honest, thoughful answers to all of my questions. I learned a lot (and continue to learn).

But after a while ... I found myself less interested in learning about the lifestyle ... and more interested in the day-to-day SB dialogue. These days, my favorite SB sections are "The Cafe" and "Advice on Life." I'd rather read a thread about Spoo's garbage disposal than someone's recent MFM experience (or something similar). But that's just me. If I ever found my way over to a meet-and-greet, I wouldn't give a rat's ass about getting involved in lifestyle activities (I can do that back home). Rather, I'd prefer to enjoy getting to know everybody better, kicking it back and having a good time. I think it would be fun. Hope it happens someday.

I came here for sex ... but I stayed ... because of you. I am fortunate to enjoy the comany of such good people.

We're here because we were just a few months into swinging and had a few newbie issues here and there and wanted to see how others handled them. Then, we were hooked. It gives us great conversation topics when we are driving to work in the morning.

I just when back and looked, I joined the site 16 months ago.

I came here looking to learn more about the lifestyle, and I was seeking advice on our situation we were having with a couple we were playing with.

I realized that I had struck gold with all of the info here and all of the great people and have never left. I don't post a lot but read everyday, sometimes a few times a day if I have time.

I have learned so much from all of you and continue to learn more everyday. I only hope as I get more comfortable with posting that I can help others as you all have helped me!

The free exchange of ideas, opinions, questions, and advice of like minded people. I think I'm still here because this is the best message board I've been on. I have one other that is non swinging related that I check occasionally. Overall a good group of people here and I like to think a few are my friends now. Even some of those I've never met.

Fortunately, that is exactly what happens at SB meet ups.

They really aren't filled with "lifestyle activities". You are right, we can swing at home. Going to meet ups is about meeting the people we talk to here everyday and it IS a blast...

So, ride your Llama to the next earest meet up. You'll be glad you did.

When we were just "curious wannabes" we had a lot of concerns about the people involved in the lifestyle, a lot of fears about how they could interfer or impact our marriage.

We didn't started here, insthead looked for swingers web sites from our country, and hook up chatting in the IRC channel from one of these websites. We suddenly got impressed by how much like ourselves were the swingers, the high standards most ot them (us) have, and how carefull most of them were with this tender, feared and curious couple. We got high quality advice, and understood how important for the lifestylers is to share their knowledge and experience.

Some of these people put aside their own desires for getting in bed with us, some others were just nicknames in a chat room we've never meet face to face, nor have the chance to meet because of the distance, and even so they gave us their precious time. We realized these people were up to share their soul as much as their sexuality with others, or because of the distance, just their souls, and this is something really hard to find somewhere else.

Sadly, we didn't found any free swinger related forum from our country. but when I found this one and began reading around, I noticed swingers from everywhere in the world have a lot in common. My wyfe isn't fluent enough in English as to participate actively, but we feel this lifestyle is a gift for us, that most of this gift came from the people we've meet, and we feel the need to be thankfull by giving something back.

As for myself, being here provides me a chance to thank everyone that represent these people we've meet by sharing their high standards and the warm care for others along with their sexuality, to keep learning from them, to stand shoulder by shoulder with them providing advice when I feel I can, as to fulfill my need to give back what we already got from others.

So, thanks Julie for this forum, and thank you, every one of you, from the bottom of my heart.
