Female Manicure/Pedicure Poll

Mrs. CXXC gets them at least once a month! She is a manicure/pedicure junkie! eyebrows waxed and all that stuff are part of her little spa day. Then it is off to shop for a new outfit or shoes or both. She loves to be pampered!

To me, I am happy to dig the dirt from under my nails with a toothpick after working in the yard all day! Thats enough attention for me! Pedicure? HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HAH A HA HAH A HA

I'm a practical girl. I don't "get" the whole professional manicure-pedicure thing.

My hands are not that pretty, and my nails have always been weak. Before we started in the lifestyle, all I did was cut them off when they broke. Now, I paint my fingernails once every week or so, depending on if we are going out. I feel like it gives me a little extra girly look; a little teeny bit of glam. But honestly, with my hands not being my best feature, I don't see any point in drawing attention to them.

My feet are naturally nice looking, and draw comments from people every so often. I just cannot see spending time and money to have someone else paint my toenails for me. My toes might look better if I did, i.e. fewer visible callouses, but I can't help thinking that my overall attractiveness is much better served by spending that hour working out instead. No one will care what my feet or fingers look like if I regain the weight I lost when we got into swinging. And I need the callouses for dancing, jogging etc. I'm not doing martial arts anymore, but when I did, callouses served a purpose then too.

Not only that, but if I spend, say, $30 on a mani-pedi including tip, by the time I do that a few times, I have spent the money I would have had for a new pair of shoes or some other clothes. The clothes last a lot longer than the manicure. And I think the clothes do a lot more for how I look.

Or, I could spend the money getting my hair colored and highlighted, which again I think does a lot more for my looks. There's only so much money I'm willing to spend on maintaining my looks. I'd be more likely to justify plastic surgery -- lasts longer and has more of an effect. Hmm... detecting a running theme...

So in short, I don't really get it. I suppose if I had a playmate with a foot fetish, I might make an exception and get a pedicure. But that might pay off in other ways .

I've had maybe three pedicures in my life. The last one I really regretted, because it turned out we walked on a beach for three hours the day afterward. My feet were all soft and tender from the pedicure, and all the callouses were gone, so the sand rubbing was pretty painful.

All in all I'll do my nails in front of the TV, thank you very much. I admit I like them better painted than not painted. Makes me feel like a girl.

I do my own mani/pedis but have had them professionally done before. I would definately have them done more often but can't afford it! I often get compliments (especially on my feet) -- must be all that practice LOL.

Of course, I work with animals and lots of my job involves cleaning. Keeping polished fingernails is totally a futile effort, so now I'm resigned to short unpolished nails. Except when I'm on vacation.
