Wanted to see if anyone has any experience or has had vaginal reconstruction of any sort? (namely a procedure called Labioplasty) I personally am a bit self conscious of that area and for good reason! First let me say that I totally understand that each and every one of us beautiful ladies is unique and different in a lot of ways. However, my particular area of concern makes the small leap from total vanity over to the side of physical comfort and function! Now, I am reading this and it is starting to sound like I have some sort of sideways growth!!! That is not the case. My situation is what some refer to as enlarged inner labia...I guess!!! I have spent a bit of time researching the internet and have also spoken with my OB/GYN who agrees that there is something to be done to "rework" the area. And because there is occasional, slight discomfort during intercourse as well as day to day activity (most discomfort is very slight) this would be written up as a medical procedure and not just plastic surgery. So now I am at a crossroads. There are times when I really want to have the procedure. And then there are times when I am a big ol chicken baby and scared of the recovery! ![]() So that is why I am here...asking for anyone else that might be willing to speak up and offer any experiences or advice! |

From a surgeon... While no surgical procedure should ever be performed without complete evaluation of the risks, benefits and alternatives, labiaplasty is a straightforward and effective procedure that is performed more commonly than you might guess. Provided that you have no special tendency to bleed, are at no particular increased risk for infections, and have no heart/vascular problems that would place you at special risk for anesthesia, this is well-tolerated. Pain is typically modest at worst, and many women report little to no pain. From a sex standpoint, you'll be out of action for 2-4 weeks. Healing is generally swift because, frankly, evolution has adapted the nether region to heal quickly. Childbirth is a lot more traumatic. In summary, if you are healthy and have a reasonable indication for the procedure--aesthetic or medical--this is typically an easy decision for a patient to make. You have both indications. If you choose to undergo the procedure, follow your surgeon's instructions especially about pre-op preparation. Success and safety involve much more than the operating room--it's a collaboration from start to finish. PM me if questions. |

As with any surgery, you need to consider the long term benefit vs the short term discomfort. Looks like you want to go forward with this. Yes, it's surgery and it will be uncomfortable for a little bit, but consider that long term your quality of life will vastly improve. Plastic surgery as a means to improve function and quality of life is done far more then plastic surgery just for the sake of vanity. It's just that the latter gets far more press then the former. My opinion is go for it. As the good doctor previous mentioned, if you've had a child, you've already gone through worse, and if you plan to, this will be one less thing you have to worry about. | Would you do this if you weren't a swinger? I think this is an important question to ask yourself. Visually, I have no idea how different you look. I am concerned that how you feel about how you look may be a big part of why you're considering this. Regarding discomfort: I feel the size of my inner labia is in the "norm," yet, I will have discomfort during intercourse every time if I don't use plenty of lube. You say your discomfort is "occasional, slight." If you and your spouse have been enjoying sex for years as you are, please ask yourself, is this surgery really necessary? There is risk with any surgery. I wish the best for you! LM |

| This is an excellent question, and one my wife and I considered somewhat recently. My wife had a NovaSure procedure done, along with having her tubes tied. We were both concerned about allowing swinging to motivate the decision to go ahead with the procedures. In the end, while swinging was a factor in favor of the procedures, it was a minor factor. There were very solid reasons why we went ahead, which had nothing to do with swinging. My wife is very happy she had the procedures done.

VERY good question! And I want to start by saying that I have thought long and hard to make sure that swinging is not the major factor in my decision. I will not try to say that being in the LS does not have some influence when it comes to making these decisions. However, this has been a personal issue for me since my teenage years. It was not until recent years that I even realized that I had options! Imagine my surprise to find out there are other woo-ha's out there like me!!!! Anyway, yes our sex life has always been very fulfilling. I did stress the "slight" discomfort...mainly using that term to keep it from sounding like I walk around with unmanageable pain all the time. THAT is not the case! I am also blessed with a patient and willing hubby! On the other side of things...there are times when I am VERY uncomfy in clothes because the skin can get pinched between things. Sometimes I have to stand up and "adjust" almost in the fashion of a man relocating his balls!!! It all sounds kind of weird now that I am typing it out! But I am not opposed to the topic because I feel that there may be other ladies experiencing the same or worse situation and do not know that they have options! My hubby loves me and my whole body and has never been ashamed to show me off or share me with others. However, he is supportive of me with whichever decision I make! I can tell u that I am strongly leaning towards going with it! I do feel that it has also gotten worse with age and childbearing! We will not have anymore children so it seems like now is the right time! On a second note...I also had the Novasure done. Totally nothing to do with the LS...I was tired of bleeding for 10 days and being drained of all energy! The BEST thing I have ever done for myself!!! Whew that was a lot to say using my blackberry skillz!! Thanks again for your legitimate questions! Send more I do not mind at all! |

Post procedure, she now has just one very small period, lasting about 2 days, if that sometimes. She's VERY happy she had it done. | |

SO far (knock knock knock on wood) i have not had even a hint of a period in 1.5 years! I know it could still happen at some point. But I have been very very happy with the Novasure. I had already had my tubes tied previously so I was definitely a perfect candidate!!!

It's interesting that many people are saying "don't let the lifestyle factor into your decision". Curious stance, considering the Lifestyle is part of your life. If recreational sex is an enjoyable part of your life and you'd like to continue enjoying it, then Hell yes you should factor it into your decision! Swinging is, at this point, a part of your life, and you're entitled to make it better for yourself! Besides which, you've now mentioned that your condition has caused problems with daily function (the pants pinching problem). Consider too, your medical professional supports your decision. If your gyno thought it was a bad idea, she would tell you, or at least dig a little deeper into your motives. Mr. P |
