Default Pubic Hair Fashion 2009

We've been tracking this for a couple of years but since fashions are rarely timeless we've decided to track this one anew every year to see how fashions change.

What people do with their pubic hair changes with fashion as much as the hair on their heads, especially among us Lifestyle types.

Please answer with one combination representing both of you as a couple.

The three categories are:
  • Shaved - You take off all your pubic hair
  • Trimmed - You remove or trim some of your pubic hair (usually around genitals) but leave some there like a landing strip or triangle
  • Natural - You leave your pubic hair alone (think '70s porn)

It seems like the fashion has been shaved for quite some time. However, I've noticed (in general - not just the lifesytle) that that seems to be diminishing. I think that along with all things that seem to be moving back in time, we are moving back towards "au natural" (ICK). But first we'll go through trimmed to get there.

Well, with 25 couples responding it's really too early to see trends but that initial data is showing some fairly interesting differences from the earlier 2006-7 version.

Among women:
Natural is still unfashionable although slightly more common at 10% (8% last year)
Trimmed is more popular than it was at 40% (33% last year)
Shaved, while less popular (52% vs 58% last year) is still the most common hairstyle.

Among men:
Natural has plummeted from 14% last year to 4% and is now less common with men than women
Trimmed remains the dominent hairstyle for men at 56% (slightly down from 58%)
Shaved has significantly increased from last year's 27% to 40%

Again, with only 25 couples so far, it's way too early to trust these trends but it an interesting start.

How are we singles supposed to vote?
Or is our vote unwelcome?

Malachista
This particular poll measures couples including things like "Do men and women in a couple tend toward similar hairstyles".
There's absolutly no reason that you couldn't create equivalent polls for male and female single members.

Perhaps you should have mentiond this in either the title or your original post

I would think that "Please answer with one combination representing both of you as a couple." would make that clear enough.
Again, feel free to create your own poll or polls for singles.

I'd suspect that most of us don't tend to see what's going on with pubic hair for people who aren't in the lifestyle. Any anecdotal comments since you're in the rare position to have that data?

I agree ICK. Shaved just feels better, is nicer for sex, and IMHO just looks better. Can't think of anything nice to say about natural.

Well, we've crossed the 50 couple mark now.

Among women:
Natural is back to about where it was last year at 7.5% (10% last year)
Trimmed is a little more popular than it was at 38% (33% last year)
Shaved, while a little less popular (55% vs 58% last year) is still the most common hairstyle.

Among men:
Natural has plummeted from 14% last year to 7.5% and is now equally uncommon with men as with women
Trimmed barely remains the dominent hairstyle for men at 47% (down from 58%)
Shaved has significantly increased from last year's 27% to 45% and is close to taking the lead

One big change is that last year, lots of couples had women with less pubic hair than men with 54% matching and 40% with women more shorn. This year, 66% match and only 21% have women with shorter pubes and in 13% of the couples, the man is more closely cropped (up from 5% last year).

Looks like the big news in public hair fashion so far this year is in men's grooming.

My comment just comes from what I've seen in the gym locker room and it seems the majority of the women I see there are "au natural".

Julie, Not many women in the men's locker room, but I think things may be influenced on where you live and age. Before I moved, it seemed that there were more shaved/trimmed guys in the locker room. Where I'm at now, there seem to be fewer. I'm not sure if it's the two years, or the fact that the gym I'm at now is mostly older, or the location (or all of the above).

Anyway, as I'm not a fan of pubic hair, I hope it's not a trend back towards "au natural" especially on women.

BTW, can you (we?) make a sign or something or a handout to leave about the benefits of getting rid of pubic hair!! ;-)

Based only on my experiences most swinger women are shaved or at least trimmed. I can only remember seeing a handful of "natural" women and we've only played with 2 or 3. As for the general public I have seen the trend back to natural especially among the younger (under 25) and older (over 50) women. This is from conversations with co-workers and the gym locker room.

Mrs. D will only play with guys that are shaved. She likes to deep throat and hates having to cough hair off her tonsils. We missed out on playing with a great couple last weekend because he doesn't shave. Happened a couple times before. I hope if girls go back to natural they at least continue to shave their legs and pits.
