How's everyone doing?

Still losing here, although losing my appetite due to limited ability to eat has been helping. Haven't been to the gym this week but still lost at least 2lbs.

I'm down five pounds total.

This week wasn't the greatest. I went out of town last week, and while I ate food like cake, cheese, crackers and bread, I burned enough calories to make up for it. But when I got home, I ate the same things without the exercise. And then PMS kicked in, too. That's always good for 3 or 4 pounds of weight gain.

As of today, I'm the same weight before I left town, but I only worked out with weights twice, and only three days of aerobics.

I'm happy the scale is back where I started last week. But I need to re-up on the effort this coming week. My goal is 6 more pounds by September 14th.

Luckily, my nephew goes back to his mother tonight until August 30th, so there's less food around, and more importantly, less competition for food. Both the Spousal Unit and I noticed that we eat more if he's around because if you don't eat your share when you first have availability to eat it - he will, and you'll get none so you eat whether you want to or not. Not a good mentality to be in when watching what you eat.

I think I'll resurrect this thread. I'm curious where people are in their goals.

I lost a total of 8lbs of the 11 I wanted to lose. However, I had three weeks of severe allergy issues and a sinus infection. Then we had vacation. Then I had a lot of volunteer and work related issues. Excuses, excuses.

Now with a recent glut of guests with extra food and less time, the weight has creeped up three pounds in the last 10 days, so I need to get re-motivated and get into my habits again. I need to chart my food again, cut way back on the fat and sugar (Halloween candy in the house WILL be eaten) and start working out consistently again.

I want to keep the weight off through the holidays, so I need to start now. I'm using a formal dress I bought for the two scheduled holiday-like events as my incentive.

Where are you guys at?

Good for you rpu3. It's hard sometimes to find time in a busy schedule!

I wasn't one of the original posters but I went on a diet/exercise regime in Sept. I'm 5ft 9in and, starting Sept 22, was 151lbs. I cut way back on my calories...more caloric restriction than actual diet and go to the gym (on average) 4 times a week. I spend one day training with someone just so that I have some help knowing what to do the other 3 days. Besides, she keeps me motivated! On average I might spend 1 1/2 to 2 hours in the morning at the gym. 30 minutes (on treadmill days) and 45 minutes for cardio followed by however long it takes to finish whatever muscle group.

As of today's date I weighed in at 141lbs (with Flo 1 week away) and can actually run for 10-12 minutes straight on the treadmill. Yeah! The best part is that I'm not the only one who is noticing that my legs are firmer.

On the trainers recommendation I started with a protein shake to help build lean muscle but I usually only drink it on days when I work out.

I'd like to incorporate running at least one day on the weekends with K. Just not always easy to wake up early enough for this when we're both dead tired from the week we just finished.

Well, I am new here but think I will start as of today. I can carry weight pretty well most days as I am tall. I have (GASPS CANT BELIEVE I AM ADMITTING THIS) been at the high end of weight...I have also gotten way to small at time....Highest wearing a size 22....lowest a size 3. Someone who is 5'9 really doesnt need to wear a 3 LOL.
I had gotten to the right weight and stayed there for several years but had an injury and have gotten slack.
I am wanting to lose around 20ish pounds.
As of today I weigh about 166 and wear a size 9 clothes.

I believe my previous weight issues are partially what cause my hesitations in the LS...The fear of being nekkid next to the hot body fine chics!

So, as of today I am commiting to begin a weight loss journey. I know I can do this as previously I have lost alot of weight and maintained it so this is a motivation for me. THANK YOU for bumping this post to get my ass kicked back into gear.
While I will never have a tight muscled tummy (thank you 7 stomach surgeries) plus losing 150 pounds before, I can tone everything else and prepare for my TT (hopefully) next yr.

Well, since we're partway through the holidays I thought I'd peek back in here and see how everyone is handling the holidays?? I also wanted to update my own participation here.

I just weighed in today at the gym and did the BMI test. I'm down to 136lbs and 19% body fat. Yeah! I haven't had the time to go to the gym as frequently as I was, usually three times a week but I try to make the most of it. Still working on the cardio and training.

I was surprised at the weigh in since my eating has been horrid over the last few weeks. It's so hard to resist all the good food! Trying to be better now... until Christmas!

I had a goal that I wanted to reach by January and I'm one pound away from it now. I might not look exactly as I wanted but I'm getting there.

Luckily, we don't have many holiday parties to contend with so that hasn't been a real big issue for us. What will be a huge test for us is our trip to Vegas next week. Actually, in general it seems like alchohol has been a bigger downfall for us than the food. We both tend more towards wine and while neither of us really drink often, a little bit can go a long way.... and there's lots of alchohol and GREAT food in Vegas.

I just got back from a long weekend out of town. I thought I did well with the food choices and how often I ate, and this morning when I got home, my weight is down to a new low for me since I started Atkins a few years ago.

However, I've not resumed any exercise since allergy season started in August for me. I really have to get back to that. It's a good stress reliever, in addition to burning calories.

I am 20 pounds lighter than I was 1-1/2 years ago, but now for the last month I'm stuck. Hmm. Maybe that's because I stopped going to the gym 4 days a week!

Mr. NC and I took some sexy pics yesterday for our Swing Lifestyle profile (not posted yet!), and it reminded me that I'm not yet where I want to be.

So I'm headed back to the gym today! I'm down to a size 9/10, and even (almost) comfortably back in an 8. 6 is the goal!

I'm 5'1, 148 pounds, so I've got 20 to go b/4 a wedding I'm in mid-March.

Ladies - let's keep this thread going. It helps to have motivation, and people to share accomplishments and failures with!

It's hard to get into the gym every day...or more than 3 times this time of year. What I'm running into these days are problems with my little girls. Some days they are just so fussy I won't leave the house with them. Nothing worse than trying to work out and hearing them both crying up a storm!

The training days are a real help. I just wish I could afford to do them more than just once a week. Not only does she kick my butt but she directs me on the rest of the week.

The only thing that is really bugging me at this point is 'the bellly'. I can see that I've lost weight and my legs are a lot firmer than they were but it's hard to see a difference on the upper body. Trying to melt the fat off my torso is proving to be a pain, specifically that belt of 'mommy fat'. Grrrr!

I'm 50 years old, right at six feet tall. Seven years ago I weighed 335, today, I don't know, last time I went to the Doc I weighed in at 212.

I have had a weight problem all my life, my optimum weight for me is 205, but I don't expect to be that young again, so I don't worry about it. Diets don't work, why might you ask? Because you are focused on the scale. You weigh in every day or so and your weight fluctuations get you frustraited and you say to hell with it!

So this is what I did.

We do not have a scale in the house. Day to day, I don't care.

It is a lifestyle change. Mother always said, "eat everything on your plate young man!" Instead of that 18oz steak, get the 9oz. Eat anything you want, but in small portions. Spagetty and meat sauce? Ok, order it, but eat half of it and get a takeout box for lunch tomorrow.

Sodas. Coke, Pepsi, what ever, diet or otherwise, stop drinking them. Diet sodas are worse than the regular ones. They make you hungry. I carry a bottle of water with me all day, coffee in the morning, and yes, it is ok to have a light beer in the evening. I lost probably 40 pounds immediatly after I stopped drinking sodas.

It took time, a couple of years, went from size 50 pants to 38s. I have a belt that I have had for many years. My wife wanted me to get a new one, I said no. It has my life member VFW buckle on it and it wraps all the way around to my back. If it gets loose, I punch another hole in it. That is my scale.

One advantage is that with losing all that weight ove a long period of time, no sags, no need for a tummy tuck, or any of that.

Good luck to all of you!

S

Yeah, I know a few people who have done this with good results. I'm not one of them. I lost 80 lbs and still drank my diet sodas. Maybe I could have lost more, but I don't choose to give 'em up. Those two diet sodas per day are my treats. If a diet vanilla coke will keep me out of the sugar cookie tray at work, well, I'm willing to risk it.

I may need a case of it, though, at the rate people are putting out treats at work. That would probably turn me toxic!
