Now...if you can get it to stick its tongue out, and do the "rock on" sign along with that "wazzzzzzzup?", I'd be REALLY impressed. Work on that, would you? Then you'll have a fun trick for the next Ohio Meet-Up and I'll just be tickled pink.

I've always been fascinated with swimmers and their ability to shave better than any human on the planet. Do you take classes for that, or what? Does the coach come in and approve like my soccer coach used to approve our skin guards?

You don't sound stupid... but you're also ridiculously lucky I would say, to never have encountered a hairy shaft. They're kinda scary, really ... but they do exist.

It sounds like Tybee is right you are shaved below and trimmed above. I find that this is the best way to go. It doesn't look freaky but at the same time it gets the hair out of the way so my baby doesn't get hair balls...

Picture that slicked-up, hairless Thrax.

Yeah, that one. Mmmmmm...smoooooth. facelick

Okay, anyway, I was not a HS or college swimmer, but I got into lap swimming when I was in my 20s and masters (competitive) swimming and triathlons in my early 30s. A lot of folks in masters swimming and triathlons had competed on HS and college teams, so they passed on a lot of shaving information to those of us that didn't know better.

It is a real PAIN (at least for guys) to fully shave down, although I was lucky in that I'm not hirsute. Electric razor first, then the shaving cream and wet razor. The theory is that the shaving not only takes off the hair, but also the top layer of dead skin, so the nerves are more exposed. At least to me, that is true. When I shaved pretty much everything, I did feel slippery as an eel. Was I truly faster? I don't know, but I really felt that way. And in that state, just a hand stroking my leg would be...nothing to be seen in public...

Most of the YMCA and USMS national and international meets are in March and April, so that's when a lot of swimmers are shaved down. So if you go to Ys or other clubs with pools and see guys that are totally shaved, that might be the reason. Or they might just like shaving.

Shaving down does take some time to do well, but at least for a few days the benefits are there for swimming...and other things.

I still swim laps, and I do one- and two-mile charity swims, but I really haven't had the reason to shave down the past few years.

Hint.

Thrax
P.S. I usually do a one-mile swim at Cleveland's Edgewater State Park every August to raise funds for breast cancer research. I get sponsors for the mile I swim, but I've never had someone that would sponsor me for shaving down. Just to let you know... (I think the "shaving down" would require a MUCH LARGER pledge, don't you?)

Well folks, being of the hairy variety (The Mrs. swears that I was a Bonobo monkey in a previous life) I do grow hair on the bottom 1/3 of the shaft. As she doesn't deep throat, that doesn't create a real problem, but with almost 3" of hairy it can get to be scarey. Therefor, shave trhe shaft, balls, and the patch too. As discussed in a different thread, thsi provides some comic relief when getting nekkid for the first time.

Mr. D found the Norelco BodyGroom takes care of the stubble. Otherwise, we use really sharp razors.

I use the BodyGroom on his back too.

I use the BodyBare for myself (just before planned activity) to take care of stubble. His hair is thicker, and it doesn't work on him.

In answer to the O/P's question, the description we use (given the option) is smooth-trimmed as you (and Bud) are both smooth-below and trimmed-above (if you gotta ask us what that means, then good! We've now got a conversation started). You can't really say shaved and you can't really say just trimmed.

Su changes constantly, sometimes totally smooth, sometimes with a runway or triangle of trimmed hair above the hood, or just trimmed all over, or - on rare occasions - au naturel (i.e. full bush mode). Vive la difference. The fun part of being au naturel is that when she/we do come to shave it we can have fun. Bud can reproduce a pretty good butterfly shape from Su's pubic region - which is apt cuz a butterfly (flitting and feeding from one Bud to another) is exactly how she likes to be, in our Lifestyle. We're even considering doing the butterfly on us both and dying the hair in different colours (like a 3D fuzzy tattoo, lol) for our trip to the Cap d'Agde Naturist resort this summer. Anything that helps "break-the-ice" with other folk.

The thing with Oriental hair (at least the pubic region) is that it is quite a bit tougher than Caucasion. You gotta have a brand spanking new razor to smoothly cut thru the stuff without painfull snagging bringing a tear to the eyes and a fist to the head

Bud's is pretty static in that I've found a style I like and I stick to it. As with some of the other guys who've posted, I've got body hair and a completely shaved pubic region looks "odd". The balls and shaft are shaved daily (sometimes twice-daily), but the region above the dick base are just trimmed and a "sideburn" exists down either side to keep continuity with the leg hair.

Su say's it's my Beetles haircut, but I don't recall them having sideburns. I actually think the side-burns mite be a throwback to my sadness that I was too young during the hippy-era to grow sideburns for real.
