Default Tongue Piercings

Ok, last Saturday night, I got a new tat and my tongue pierced. As usual with my tats, it was no big deal. But the tongue piercing...OMG it friggin hurt. And I have a high pain tolerance, but this brought tears to my eyes. The guy who did it, said beforehand it was virtually painless. Considering tats, and other piercings. He seemed to know what he was doing. He was looking at my tongue well, checking with a pen light for blood vessels so he didn't hit one. The whole nine yards. On the way home, my tongue is hurting BAD. So bad I was chewing on ice like it was candy, and it still hurt. My question, is this level of pain normal on a tongue piercing?

When I got home I hurt so bad, I took it out. I was thinking "why suffer through this pain for a damn piece of jewelry?" Not to mention I was told not to smoke for a week and no food for three days. As soon as I took it out, the pain stopped. My tongue bled like a stuck pig though for an hour. Took more ice to get it to stop bleeding. Did he do something wrong? Or was I being a big ass baby LOL?

I really wanted my tongue pierced. And if it was just the piercer, then I don't have a problem looking for someone else. Or is this normal and I should just give up having it done?

It sounds to me that he did something wrong. I've had mine done and it didnt really hurt at all, and everyone I know who has it done says the same thing. You can certainly have food too. Im sure someone would tell you not to eat for 3 whole days, thats crazy. I didnt chow down on a burger or anything for a couple days but soft stuff was fine. I dont think it should have bled like that either, most piercings dont bleed much at all. I'd go see a doctor to make sure he didnt hit anything bad, heal up nice for a couple of weeks and do some research to find a different piercer.

I dunno. I got mine done, I almost threw up. The room started to spin, and I got naseus. I was eating Thanksgiving dinner 2 nights later tho, although it was very carefully!! My girl got hers done tho, and didn't even feel it, but she didn't eat for over a week.
I didn't bleed that badly tho, although there was some.
