Ok guys.. what can be done once you have an ingrown hair? I have one on my shaft and it is driving me nuts and not in a good way. I have never had on on my face so I do not have a clue on how to remove it or if it is just something thtat I have to deal with until it goes away on its own.Anyone? -Van |

Can't give direct advice for the shaft, but I pluck mine out, wherever they are on my body. Take a hot shower and get the skin softened and then use tweezers to pluck it out. It hurts like hell and often leaves a bump, but it goes away in a few days. Good luck ~SS |

No, it doesn't seem appealing. I tweeze the ingrown hairs on my bf's pubic area, but he's never had one on the shaft. I dont even want to know how much that will hurt. Hopefully some of the males of the board can give you some better advice, but I just thought I'd throw in my two cents as well. ~SS |

Yeah, I've had 'em and they're no fun. What I did was start shaving that particular area in a different direction and they eventually went away on their own. I've heard too that you can tweeze them if you can find the hair, but I'd have to get J to do it. I'm not that flexible and my eyesight isn't what it used to be! ![]() -B |

I had these little red bumps start showing up (Had never seen them before like that) and felt compelled to make an appt. He said they were just ingrown hairs. Boy, was I relieved...but felt like I knew that all along. My advice...just use a good new & clean razor.M.D. |

ok, this sounds gross..but, x-husband would have me tweeze them for him..he tended to get them on his penis for some reason. and he never shaved. what he did start doing after showers and junk, was to sprinkle babypowder down there, one with cornstarch in it. its did seem to help him out.. ![]() ~beepers~ |

EXFOLIATE before shaving. That will help prevent them quite a bit. Once you get them about all you can do is try to find the hair and pluck it.

Don't forget to disinfect the area. You can still get all kinds of nasty infections, even from an ingrown hair.

Yes, my poor husband is on antibiotics right now for that very thing... it's working, but what a nuisance. Makes for an odd conversation with the dr, too.
