Default Ever heard of anything over the counter for a permanant, or extended hair removal?

I was wondering if anyone here has any idea on what i can get to either permanently remove hair from certain areas that irritate me, or at least give me a few weeks of satisfaction from the daily shave thing. Sure its nice to stay trimmed or shaved, but its lust plain annoying to have to do it so often.

I heard of a product before called epil stop or something like that, but wasn't sure if it ever was proven a sham or not. Anything will help. Cept i don't think ill go as far as to nair my balls.

But then again, that might be fun. Anyone want to help? hehe

I don't recommend putting nair on your balls. It's not entirely safe.

It's not entirely pain free but you might try a professional wax job. I've never tried it myself but I've always thought that if I were to wax such a delicate area I would want to leave it to the pros.

Mecka, I tried epil stop on my bikini line once and it literally burned my skin. I was in pain for days. I would not recommend putting any hair removal type product like that on your private parts and if you do make sure you test it out first on a small patch of skin to make sure you don't have a bad reaction to the product.

I personally don't like the stubble that comes in all to quickly after shaving so I wax. A painful process but I stay smoother longer.

my 2 cents, Mrs DandS

I vote for waxing. I got my first FULL bikini wax a few weeks ago. My hair grows so fast that it's insane and even after waxing the hair was coming back 2 weeks later but on the upside it came back in much softer without the stubble. Even now that it's actually grown out quite a bit it's not as thick as it was and is much softer and less annoying. So I think (despite the initial pain and discomfort) that I'm going to stick to getting waxed about once a month.

As far as over the counter stuff goes, I have a friend how regularly uses the NADS home wax stuff and loves it. If I were a guy tho, I really don't think I could see waxing my balls (or letting anyone else do it).

Wink Something new to me ...

Mecka -

My youngest daughter for Mother's Day gave me [among other things] a can of "Veet" depilatory. [The can says "Neet - European Formula"] I get the impression this is something fairly new on the market.

Veet is a mousse hair remover and contains moisturizing Vitamin E and Aloe Vera. It comes with a small, natural sponge inside the cap and the use is exactingly detailed in the instructions printed on the can.

The instructions are for underarms and legs. The precautions specifically say not for use: "Near eyes, inside nose or ears, or on moles, breast nipples, perianal or genital areas." Which seems a pretty clear precaution directed at the skin type you are seeking a product for.

I feel reasonably OK about using this on the "landing strip" area, but have serious hesitation regarding it's use near the labia, etc. Certainly, some folks have more sensitive skin than others regardless of the location. And I can only imagine the discomfort level that could result from an adverse reaction.

If I were you, I'd "let my fingers do the walking" and call several "full service salons". Tell them exactly what you are wishing to do, and ask their recommendation. If everyone gives you the same answer, that will pretty much tell you that is your best and perhaps ONLY option.

If it is a service they perform rather than one you could do yourself [and I suspect that will be the case], check comparative pricing while you are making the calls. Then be sure to follow up with a call to the Better Business Bureau to insure there isn't a pile of lawsuits and/or complaints on record from those who have had the service performed. Check too about the particular salon you may be considering to make sure they are clear at the BBB, especially for "sensitive services" performed.

Please come back and let us know what you were able to find out. I'm sure the information would be helpful to others.

Hmmm...I have done it many times before, but perhaps because I shave every day, my skin isn't as sensitive? You don't want to leave it on for too long though, that's for sure! Make sure you read the directions...

There are demons in the deepest fires of Hell who couldn't come up with a torture method to rival waxing your balls.

I am going to have my first full wax in 2 weeks, but I am really in doubt about it because you have to let your hair grow to 1 cm length. Which means that in between two wax-jobs you always have 2 weeks or so that your hair is growing longer and longer. While normally I shave everything twice a week or so, so it is never long. I hope I will have enough patience to wait...

Thanks for al lthe quick responses. Its helped alot. I hate shaving, because no matter how many times i do it, i still get razor burn and cuts. I hate that. Trying to get all spiffy for a fun time, and you have cuts. its not exactly the most comfortable feeling. I was thinking lazer hair removal, but thats kind of costly. Well, guess ill jsut search the internet a little and see what i come up with there.
