I'm a big shaving aficionado and haven't met a bush I didn't get the pleasure of trimming...<weed wacker sounds>...What a wonderful way to break the ice!
And for those of us who are now decked out in our little sundresses it feels darn good when a little breeze blows under. Not to mention it's a heck of a way (think very individual) to decorate the body without tattoos and piercings.
I know a woman who had a little stickboy with a lawn mower tattooed near her strip.
A bit extreme I think. But it's nice to change the shape. I've had a lightning bolt, bullseye and heart shaped at the salon. All fun!

LikeMinds321 Thanks for sharing about the cost per session. It's actually very reasonable in my opinion. I agree women feel sexier when we have had a 'grooming' session at the salon....
do you suppose it is a 'leftover' from when we were all monkeys?
[[Spoomonkeys.....I'm looking at you!!]]
I also agree with SluttyWife...when you feel that summer breeze up the dress....it's marvelous!
By the way, Spoomonkeys....how the heck does one invest in monkeybusiness?
I thought all monkeybusiness was mischief....of differing kinds.....
And Pinmonkey....how hairy is 'hairy'....is trimmed or partly shaved considered hairy also? -- just curious.

Admittedly - I don't have much of a business plan - but the infrastructure is up and running.

I think that is why we have had such a hard time finding investors. While potential "cash cows" love to watch our presentations (usually inclusive of video, flip charts and a live presentation if the lighting isn't recessed ) they usually don't feel like our sort of "monkey business" will get them much return. To which I say, "Return?"

Oh well - monkeys aren't good business men.

'hairy' = seventy's afro bush. The kind of bush that gets caught in the zipper of your jeans. A nice "landing strip" is okay. A hitler mustache is fine, as long as they are both kept neat. But I like the lips totally bare.

Dito that last bit. As they used to say during WWII: "Spruce lips sink zips"

Thanks for your comments.

I do have another question: who are Berman and Berman? And I don't know how shaving cuts down on infection, though I do see how it cuts down on smell.

The reason I started this thread to begin with is that my partner and I had started shaving--he only shaved his scrotum and I the whole enchilada. And yes, it did increase sensitivity, and all the other wonderful bonuses mentioned on this thread. But I had one problem--I had two yeast infections in a row.

Now I had only had one yeast infection in my life before that, and I got it from borrowing a used towel (I was 12).

Anyway, I go to th gym on a regular basis, and I use their showers. A week or so of shaving, and I have this yeast infection. And so I think, damn, that sucks, and I buy the "get rid of it in a day" stuff. The next month, I get another yeast infection, and now I'm pissed. I remember the towel exchange when I was 12, and figure I must be picking something up form the shower.

Needless to say, I let the labia stuff grow back. Haven't had any problems since.

I guess all bodies react differently. And NightGoddess I'm there with you and the stubble. I always shave in the direction the hair grows first, and then I shave against the grain. It makes for smoother and less irritated skin.

Thanks for the shaving directions, I've been trying to figure out the best way to do it with no stubble and minimal irritation.
This will make me and Mr Spoo very happy

almost all the girls i know who are my age early 20's keep it shaved a lil or a lot. It is just normal like shaving legs, etc. My bf loves it shaved, and it does feel cleaner to me. If wasn't in such a small town most of the year i am sure i would go and get it waxed.

Ladies, have you ever feared injuring yourself during shaving?

I was terribly concerned with this when I began shaving. I thought I'd slice my labia minora right off for sure! Or, at the very least, turn myself into a bloody zone of cuts.

I didn't start shaving my vulva, to include the folds of the labium, until I began the laser hair removal treatments. Mr LM shaved me the first few times; I held my breath and contorted myself in an attempt to avoid being cut. Mr LM wasn't so worried. He had complete confidence in his abillity and all went perfectly.

Now, months later I shave myself with ease and only need to do so twice a month. I hardly watch what I'm doing! I feel like I've learned to ski the slopes of my vulva.

Showed me what a little practice can do for your confidence . . . which brings me to thinking about swinging; can't wait until I start skiing fearlessly down that slope.

LM

I am a believer in shaving. Hub does as well. Being with men and women, I would rather have them shaved..

I've had four kids and with each pregnancy the hair started to disappear. By the time the last one was born there wasn't that much left. So, yes I shave. (What little there is) I have noticed less odor and so I guess that's a plus. Hubby keeps his neatly trimmed. I don't like picking hair out of my teeth.

I like watching the porn movies of the 60's and 70's. These women are soooo bushy, how does the guy find the right spot?

I found this thread interesting as I have been a faithful shaver for years. About 12 years ago a guy friend of mine was surprised to hear I didn't shave. He was aghast--"Shave that box, girl!" and I've been doing it ever since. So, to answer one of your questions, quite frankly I know my equipment well enough at this point that I can pretty much feel my way around using the other hand. I check all areas to make sure things are smooth, etc. and haven't needed to use a mirror in many, many years.

So, yes! ladies, it can be successfully done! I am an Irish redhead and have rosacea and all kinds of skin issues, so the fact that I can shave is a true testament, BUT, there are some rules to follow that I have collected over the years. Everyone's different, but here's my advice:

1) I use a thick, over-the-counter ladies shave gel for sensitive skin. I have also heard of a shave cream called Coochie Cream. A friend of mine used it and has trouble finding it outside of a porn store, but highly recommends it. She says she didn't get any irritation at all... if I ever find some I'll let you know.

2) Always use a brand-new razor! This is important. When I shave, I typically get all areas at once--armpits, legs, genitals. I had a friend recommend this years ago, and bless her heart it's true. When the razor starts to dull, that's when you get shave burn and nicks and all the other unpleasantness. For special nights, you might also want to consider the area that gets shaved first (for the freshest blades).

3) I use pure, organic aloe on the area afterward. If you're not allergic to aloe, then I highly recommend it. In addition to acting as a soothing, cooling, healing layer of moisture (which gets lost in shaving) it also acts as a natural "steroid" to calm and shrink any swelling. Sometimes I even use fresh aloe from my plant.

4) Change your underwear up. When I am freshly shaven, I find it helps to wear thongs or other undies that do not run through the crevices between gentials and thighs for a day or two so that the skin isn't getting constant friction as the hair begins to grow back in.

Yes, I shave ALL areas, except for the patch above the "business" area as Mrs Spoo mentioned. On average, I shave about once every three days.

Hope this helps,
~Tempest
